That one neighbor

We tend to give away stuff with limited value to neighbors if they want them. Figure it's better to not worry about negotiating a fair price and what happens when it breaks. Don't want to do higher value business with neighbors either for the same reasons. Too easy to go wrong.
 
When the washer floods their home, and the dryer seizes, and lights up their electrical wiring, kindness is now a lawsuit.

After hurricanes, neighbors with electric chainsaws, would ask to borrow my gas Husky.
Vroom Vroom.
After cutting our fallen trees, I'd cut their stuff, to a manageable size, show them how to use a bow saw, lend them one, and that's all. Most of them were younger than me.
