Firearm photos

I have no set opinion on the discussion other then some of the greatest images posted in the group are excellent images of the S&W revolver done by people who are excellent photographers. Thier intent in those pictures are to show the revolver at it's best and to make it the whole subject of the image. There are several really top notch photographers up here that do that really well.

On the other hand I also like the images of revolvers captured with knives, watches, speedloaders, ammo, flamethrowers and other items but I view them differently. These can be as equally well done as the ones I mentioned above but to me the revolver is not the subject anymore but part of whatever theme the person was trying to convey.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Art,
You are far too modest. Your photos are clearly the best of any posted on this forum and your photo album with still life, landscapes, portraits, sun rises and sun sets represents outstanding talent and work.

Here's a carefuly composed shot. Note the juxtaposition of the brick and charcol lighter-offsetting the white terrycloth towel on which the gun sits-close to the gaping maw of the Weber. And one asks, is that yet another cast iron hibachi sitting atop the weber on which yon gun rests atop it's virginial white bed???
Some college professor (or a shrink for the criminally insane :D) could write a book about the different sublimated layers of unrequited angst this picture delievers.

This photo raises one question. Why do you want to BBQ that fine revolver?

Sometimes it is just an expression of the era from which we come.

I suppose so. I really like that knife, but you need some kind of an excuse (supplied) for a target trigger on a great gun with fixed sights. Can't really understand why someone would mess up a perfectly good picture of a knife with a gun.

Or sometimes you collect various stuff laying close by to make the photo look busier. And use a too short focal length to have a rubbery looking barrel on the gun.

OK I don't care if you put in knives, bullets, computers, or even cats but, stop putting food in the photos!

The bacon was bad enough but then apple pie! I'll gain 5 pounds just looking at them.

What is up with the gun photos that contain not only a picture of the gun but include a watch, knife and/or flashlight? Are we supposed to be impressed with the added items? I just don't get it. Do the same posters put a gun in their photos of their knife on a website dedicated to knives?

Why are you so grumpy?
Some guys like to try to compose a picture.
Cheer up, it's almost Xmas. Maybe you'll get a watch you're proud of!!:D

I'm still looking for the chick in the sweater with the Registered Magnum.

Don't know that anyone has such a thing but it should be waaaay cool.

Hell I'm not grumpy. Every once in a while when things get quite I like to stir the chile a little. LOL

And finally, ideas for summer carry? :D

This is the best thread since the "What gun did Elmer Fudd Carry?" thread!

BTW, I love artistic gun photos. Ichiro was the best!
