I have owned 3 sets of Ahrends Grips prior to these Retro Combats. I have always liked the looks and the quality of Ahrends grips, but they just didn't feel good to me. I figured I would give them one more try. I purchased a set of Retro Combats in Cocobolo for my 629 Mountain Gun......and I finally found a set that fit me great. They are definately the most comfortable grip I have tried from Ahrends. I'll probably purchase another set for my model 64.

I've never kept them on guns long either, just didn't like them that much. I've thought about getting a set of these before, might have to try a set out sometime. They look good on your N frame.

The Retro Combats are my absolute favorite of the whole Ahrends line. They look great on your Mountain Gun!

Here's my PC 627 UDR with a set of Cordia Retro Combats.

The quality was never the issue for me. They are great quality grips, it was just the feel, and these are most definitely the best of any Ahrends I have owned, and I would suggest if anyone has had the same problems I had to give these grips a try. My hand holds higher on these grips than the others for a more natural feel to me. The others I had held lower, which I didn't like.

Those do look nice. I'm with you on the feel and quality of Ahrends Grips...top-notch, but I have a set of Retro Targets up for sale right now that just didn't "fit" right for me on a 627 Pro...might have to give the Retro Combats a try!

May I suggest oil-finished Maple for your 64? ;)

Great grips, but they may be for sale soon. I'll have to give them another try at the range; last time the muzzle flip of the gun was ridiculous and I suspect these grips may not be for my hands. :(

The last set I bought for this gun was a set of the Retro Combats, that I sold within 3-4 days of purchase. These feel totally different, they feel great. For me the combats would have fit better if they were a little thicker. I am not at all disappointed with the Retro Targets.

I bought a 25 Classic. My first N frame. Went through some grips until I found the retro combat.

Then I bought a 19-3, and needed another set.

I needed a 25-7, and it needed a set.

I bought a 620, same issue.

My neighbor bought a set. We bought some more guns.We have 5 more sets on order. it's a sickness....

This set is now on my .38-44 Outdoorsman until my Maple set comes in, and then I will probably switch back. They have a pretty good fit for me.

Until I find period correct magna's and get a grip adapter, these will reside on my Model 28. So here is some more blatant free advertizing for Kim... :D

those are some great looking guns, and grips!!!

i like Ahrends too. every set i have bought has gone through some slight altering to make them fit even better.

Did they require fitting for the gun or your hand?

Nice looking grips! I've got cocobolo Retro Targets on my Mountain Gun.

The factory Ahrend's finger groove grips that came on the gun have been modified and fitted to my dad's 686.

they all fit the gun very well...albeit tight and sometimes hard to remove.

i made this set more comfortable for me by eliminating the sharp edge by the cylinder release that cuts into my thumb, and slightly rounded the bottom front.

nice looking grips. I just bought a 329 not sure which model ahrends came with it but they were removed after one cylinder full I'll have to try them on a 629. they are unusable for me on the 329

I have tried several Ahrends type grips, as well as S&W factory targets. The Ahrends retro Combats are my favorites.

As much as I love Ahrends grips that was a silly move to put them on the 329. What they were thinking no one will ever know.

I have the same gun and am interested. Is is possible to post a picture from the back of the gun showing the width profile of the grips?

Thanks.

Here is a pic...sorry it took so long to post.
