Havent seen one dedicated to this fine revolver yet. Maybe we will actually see how many are really out there. Here is my 4" with rosey eagle grips. The 3" is coming in 90 days!!

I had a perfectly good Ruger Security Six with 4" barrel. For no good reason, I was NEVER able to shoot that gun to my potential. I brought the CS-1 home, and IMMEDIATELY was able to shoot MUCH better. I had a complete action done on the Ruger and even after that was NOT able to shoot it well. The Smith made me look GOOD! It is my house gun, loaded with Winchester 140 gr Hollow Points.

WFR that's one pretty piece of leather.

So far, it seems like the 4 is less common...or less desireable.:D

That's what I like about this forum, I learn something new every day.

Awesome, and absolutely beautiful revolvers, folks.

I remember seeing one of those back in the early 90's...........but I've never understood what the differences are. The one I saw had a port ahead of the front sight, which had been moved back. Is it a K-frame or an L-frame?

Well i joined the club today! Although I paid a premium for it, being that I am in California, I do believe that it is worth every penny and I would have no problem recovering my money, and then some in Cali. Never have I held a revolver that felt so "good" in my hand. It is in like new condition with the exception of a very light ring. Came with the original box in great condition.

Here are a few pics!

So what is more rare, a 3" CS 686 or a 3" 66-3 ?

Nick,

There were a total of 3500 or so CS-1's produced....Janet Reno had about 1500 of them destroyed after she found out that they were being sold to mere citizens. That number included both 3 and 4 inch versions. As far as I remember, there were at least 5000 of the 3" 66 produced...so my bet would lie on the 686 CS-1 of any length being more 'rare' than the 66 3"

Maybe someone has the actual production numbers for the 66's?....I'm just going off of memory here...
