Model 38 price

New ones here, on sale can be found for around $365-ish. That said, I'd much rather have an older model. I think $375.00 is an okay price, but I'd try to get it for $350.00 OTD if possible.

Regards,

Dave

A Model 38 is hard to find and in nickle even harder. I believe it to be a fair price and wish I could find one.

I picked up a nice used one a few months ago for $325. Got lucky on that one.

Photoman, that's a great looking M38. It looks like one of the flat nickel pieces from the 90's.

PuertoRican, if I found a clean, nickel M38 from any pre-lock generation for $375, I'd hand over the money and run. And probably be giggling under my breath the entire time. For $350 OTD, I'd have to contain the shakes during the transaction so as not to tip my hand.

Look under the forcing cone at the very thin portion of the frame under it. My mod 38 frame cracked at this point after very few standard 38 special rounds. I read that the barrels may have been screwed too tight. S&W replaced it with a mod 638.

Heck, I think thats a good deal and I agree see if you can haggel a bit! Here's one I found last year for $369.00. Let us know how you made out and some pics if ya snarf it up.

I bought the Model 38 about 8 years ago. Gave $220 for it. Reason I posed the question was that a friend had asked what I'd sell it for. I didn't want to give it away but I didn't want to rip him off either. Anyhow its moot at this point. He hesitated & I decided I'd keep it. Here's the pic.

I would call that a steal of a price. Wouldn't part with mine for that . . . .;)
