I don't like seeing threads like this. If you had to sell the both of them then I really hope you bought them one massive huge all bells and whistles kind of beast fridge. I hope you can get your guns back on some kind of payment plan. I wish you lived near me. There is a guy not too far from here that sells good deals on appliances he fixes and repaints. Some of them look darn near new again. It just bugs me that people are having to sell off guns for financial woes.

All good deeds come back two fold! ...or something like that. NICE gesture. As stated above, maybe you can buy them back at some point.

Try to scrape together about a hundred and thirty dollars. That ought suffice for the purchase of a Phoenix HP22. They're decent guns for what they are. Also take a look at the Heritage Rough Rider revolvers. Those are inexpensive ways to get back into shooting/gun ownership.

Another inexpensive option is to get a Cap & Ball revolver.

Had a similar experience a couple of months ago. My daughter is having to fight her ex for custody of her children. I sold three handguns here in the Forum and two more plus a rifle elsewhere to pay for her a lawyer. I still have a few left and would sell them gladly for my grandkids but it truely hurts to have to do that.
People will say that "it's only material things" but you form a bond with your firearms that only you can feel, and it takes a toll on you.
If you know what I mean, no explanation nessasary. If you don"t know what I mean no explanation will do.

Been doing that for some years now :o
(injured a sholder and couldn't work for two years)

You have to tell yourself that it's only things.

Family comes first all the times.

You did the right thing. There will be other guns that come down the pike, but you've only got one family.

Well done.

Been there and done that. I sold all of my guns many years ago to buy Christmas presents for the family. I think when one does things like this, that he/ she is rewarded many times over. I know I have been.

This about covers it.

I love my gun collection, but hearth and home will ALWAYS come first. MrsZ and I have discussed it; when she grumbles about "another darn gun" I point out that they're money in the bank and if need be I'll sell one to make ends meet.

Made good on it this spring, unfortunately - but while it hurts a little right then, it's part of being an adult, a husband, and a gentleman.

MG, you did good.

Well , a man has to do what a man's gotta do. I too have been in the position of having to sell my guns to pay for lifes expenses. And with todays economy , a lot of people are having to sell their guns.
Unfortunately , ya never seem to get what a guns worth when ya NEED to.

"A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do" In your case all things were considered and you took the only option. Good on you and your integrity. Times are not getting better.

If you did not live so far away, I would certainly help you out with a gun of some sort.
Heck a friend of mine runs the best gun shop around and we could get a good deal on something I just helped him yesterday sort through a bunch of used guns to put out for sale,(no registerd SW Magnums) but doesn't Illinois have tough gun laws?

If we could ship one to you and others here would chip in a few bucks perhaps something could be arranged.????

A Guy's gotta have a gun!

I always hate to hear that someone has to sell their guns just to get by, but these are hard times in which we live and I am afraid it is going to get much worse before it gets better.

well i did the same thing today to help family, sold my 28 and a nickel 19 but i have alot of guns and little family ill get by with the ones i have
