i did a very painful thing yesterday

Is there some way of those of us just dropping a $20 into a PayPal account in his name? With those of us that have already thrown out our names a willing, that small amount would be a good start right there. I not dripping with cash but I could at least do that and a little more next paycheck.

Or, MG357... I know all about pride, but if you are willing to post a PO box I would be more than happy to drop you a PO money order.

When I was a sailor we did a lot of passing the hat around for many things. This wouldn't be far off at all. I had it passed around for me once and I always try to give back.

And the pride issue, trust me on this... When my dumb butt decided to leave a sea bag unattended and lose every single uniform I owned... (stinking thieves, may your hands fall off...) I had good friends bail me out. You did the opposite of something dumb. So you really deserve even better.

Alright guys, how do you want to do this? I think a donation in money will be far easier than me trying to find a gun at a good price and doing the whole FFL transfer thing.

So do we want to send all the funds to a neutral person ( I will volunteer) or do we want to send direct to him?

I will volunteer to be the treasurer if that is OK with everyone else or however you want. I have given out Karmas, repaired grips for fellow members worked for State Govt with high clearance on social issues.

Will we need to ask Lee if it's OK for me to post a thread where members who donate can be listed.

I have everyones name on this thread so far and TrooperDan and I have discussed a bit and have sent PMs to MG 357

Please let me know.

I just sent Lee a PM for permission to start a donation. I do not have a pay pal account (I did but never used it)

I am thinking just send him the money. I have a list of guns that Tropper Dan said he would like but the odds of finding them at a good price are not good. I think let him pick what he wants, when he wants.

Anyone who donates (If I am the collector) can send cash, personal check, MO whatever is easiest other than PayPal

I have a Business Degree and can keep records:D One set of books:D

I hereby volunteer (nominate) Rule3 to be the treasurer/collector. Given the option I would like to set a goal and try to do our best to break it. A heavy barreled 64-4 was mentioned. I'm not sure what the shipping would be, but that should be a very doable goal gun right there. The cherry on this sundae would be if the last bit covered his FFL pick up fee.

EDIT:

OK, I type slow, MG357 sent that while I was still rummaging around in my head for how this could be done.

And I'm stubborn and still would love to help...

What kind of gat are we going to come up with for mg357? Realistically speaking, what does he want? A .22 he can afford to shoot right now, or a .357 he can just fondle? If one or more of you who are on the fence about one of my 5" .500s will step up, I'll dig around for something decent to donate...

Okay...but I was real curious to see what John Ross was gonna dig up for you...:(

Guys;
YOU CAN"T EAT A GUN! Sad as it may seem the man did the right thing, and there will be other guns in his future. Sounds like a young enough guy with a small assemblage of guns, things will get better, keep your chin up. Most of us all started with a few, so came some went, money saved, money spent. When your flush again, the smile will return, keep the faith brother!

Cheers;
Lefty

O.F.F. - Forgive me but I wasn't trying to force a gun here... I took the story to be money was needed NOW for a fridge and the man did the right thing at the time. Now a few of us are just wanting to turn his good will back at him. Call it karma, call it just being right. If a hat gets passed for this guy, I have a little extra I can add to it. And since I don't see the economy getting better until at least... eh hem... 2012ish... I see no reason he can't at least go to a November gun show with a little help. And like I said before... I'm stubborn.
