CS-40 in 10 m.m. - DONE - CS-40/CS-45 Extended Magazines

CS-40/10 and 4013/1013 10 m.m. range report

Well,
I had an incredible range day today.
All I can say is SWEEEEEEET!

Took the "CS-10" and and "1013" to my LGS, they have a 7 port - 75 foot indoor range.
A good friend of mine works there.
I was surprised to see the range was empty on a Sunday.
Grabbed a box of 10 m.m. Federal 135 gr. BallistiClean Copper Bonded Flat Point ammo off of the shelf
and also had a 100 rd. box of my reloaded 180 gr. ammo with me and put it all through both firearms.

Also put the ambidextrous safety on it that I swapped from my CS-45, it makes racking the slide easier on your fingers.
I started off with the heaviest spring that I had made to fit.

The CS-40/10 recoil was quite comfortable with the Hogue grips and the thinned down Buffer Technologies buffer in it.

First shot was with just one round chambered with an empty magazine to see if it would lock back, it did and did not throw the brass all that far.
Everything cycled perfectly and the accuracy was as good as the 4013/1013 at 50 ft., I'm very happy/pleased.

This target is the first target of the 4013/1013 taken mid-May just to show those that have not seen it.
Today's were the same, the CS-10 printed about 1.50" low at 50 ft.
Just the opposite of the target shown.
I expected that being a substantially hotter round.
I don't have the targets from today, I forgot them at the range, sorry.

Now to go work on a Delrin grips to replace the Hogue's.................

Regards,

Dead Gummit BM1, you have me scratchin' and itchin' to obtain one of these little gems! After the barrel project is done and paid for, I'll have to find some of them.

Shadow1006,
CS-40's are hard to find, but I know a LGS that has one................

So, I forgot to mention,
today I get out of the range and I'm standing at the counter and I get to talking to a well known to the store, "die-hard" Delta Elite guy.
He asks "What were you shooting in there?"[the range]
I tell him a 10 m.m. S&W.
He seemed like he had a little attitude or wanted to say something, I don't know.
He says to me "Oh, those big tanks, What did I do with it, where did it go?"
So I tell him I'm carrying it.
You should have seen the look on his face when I showed him this rig under a white T-shirt,
that was the end of my side of the conversation:

10xx w/ 4506 mags

I realized that the ejection port on a CS-40 is the same as the CS-45 and 10XX series,

I tried my 8 round magazines from a 4506 in my CS-40 and CS-45, they are dimensionally the same and work like a charm.
Then, just by chance I used 4516 bases and the extensions from my ProMag 10 rd. mags on them and they made just the right fit.

Would you happen to know if the 4506 magazines will fit into a 10XX series pistol? How well do the modified magazine feed, now that you've had some time to play with them?

The 4506 magazine will not insert into the 10XX series, the width is thicker.
And,
All of my modified magazines feed perfectly.

LoL i believe it.I was just wondering about the longevity of the slide rails over time. I know this is a brand new project, I'm just wondering on your guys opinions on how much more wear and tear the 10mm round will produce.
We are talking about a 24 ounce 10MM autoloader.

I doubt that your hand will be willing to fire enough of the "HOT" ammo to make it an issue.

Got a response for the Delta Guy. Just calmly have a box of Underwood 10mm (or just an Underwood 10mm BOX will do) with you and hand it to him .
Just make sure the box has this sticker and it should end his smugness instantly!

Man, talk about a Zombie thread!!

That being said, HOW has the long-term on these been??
Any wear signs on the rails or anything else??

Since I LOVE 10mm, and have a CS-45...well, its making me think!!

I will bump this thread again, any long term reports on the CS-10 or the 1013?

Great projects!

I made a 1013 about 10 months ago and have shot perhaps 500 rds through it. I found that the sanded down buffers didn't last long so I shortened that area of the slide that contacts the frame by a tenth of an inch so that a full buffer could be installed. Worked great and offered a flatter surface for the buffer. Still had to reshape that area of the slide to fit the shape of the buffer. Slide locks back, the buffer last and the dust cover still covers that area of the slide. My son will make a 1013 2/15/15 when he returns from Alaska.

1076TSW,
Do you really want to wait until enough data is in to determine longevity? It could be 10-20 or more years before we learn where the failure point is.

I have no idea how old you are, but I would not want to be waiting that long :)

pearse type foot extensions

I have a question. Does Anyone make a "pearse" or "adams grips" type foot extension to lengthen the mag by 1/2" or so? My pinky finger does not fit comfortably and I would like to simply add an extension without changing the caliber. I have 4 S&W CS40/7 round mags.

Well, what we like are PROJECT UPDATES!!!

Every two years or so would be nice ;)

Which reminds me, I need to go back to RFC & do a flurry of updates
on all the Marlin 795/60 stuff I've done in the last two years...
and the 922M as well ;)
