Set of 4 S&W Mountain guns???

I have a set of 4 SS mountain guns, 44 mag, 41 Mag, 45 Colt, and 45 ACP All of them are NIL and have the rubber grips as supplied by the factory.
They are all over 95% 3 of them have boxes, paperworks Ect.

A friend of mine is trying to talk me out of them and as I have had them for several years I have no idea what they are worth. I have no desire to piece meal them out, He wants all 4.

I don't want to rake him over the coals but I don't want to give them away either.

Any help would be appericated.

This is going to come off all wrong, and I don't mean it to, but you are missing one revolver, I believe. Smith made a 357 Mountain Gun as well. I think that one would make your set complete.

I considered trying to obtain a complete set several years back when I had the 657 and 625. I then ended up with a Redhawk in 45 Colt, and that made the 625 expendable and I sold it. Still have the 657, and it is NIB...

And I would think that $3K is pretty reasonable for the four you have, assuming they are mint and have paperwork, boxes, etc. They are/would be worth that to me...

Nope, you need a few more to have them all. The SWCA 25th Anniversary Edition and Mountain Reveolver are missing from this picture. I need to get busy with the camera. I'd say for the four, $600 each is a friends price, you wouldn't be gouging him at all. For $2,400 he'll be getting them cheaper than waiting to find them one at a time. But it's harder to find a buyer who is willing to lay out that much money at once (at least in my gun buying circle). (Also, I snuck a 624 in there, it's actually a square butt so not really a mountain gun)

Could the 396 Mountain Lite be included in a set of Mountain guns?

$3000 for the four is not out of line. $2750 for a good guy price.

I am going to go against the majority here.

It sounds like all four have been fired since leaving the factory and that one is missing the box.

Nothing it truly rare here. They are not hard to find if you look for them over time. They are not all unfired since leaving the factory. The numbers are not all the same. I do not see a collector's reason for them to be sold together. They are just four random Mountain Guns of different calibers being sold at the same time.

Based on that info, if I were looking to buy (though I have most of them) I would probably top the price out at $2500 for the set.

I would want to pay less per gun for a set like that than I would pay per piece if I were just buying the Mountain Guns that I truly wanted.

I have one (629 Mountain Gun) with a white outline rear sight, red insert front sight, and a Grizzly Bear etched into it's sideplate. When I bought it, it was listed as a stocking dealer special edition. I no longer have the paperwork for it to find the details. Are items like mine considered unique enough to be included in Mountain Gun collections, or are they just considered oddities? I have no desire to get rid of it.

I replaced the factory grips with Nills. Still have the original Hogues.

No problem with the 624 in there. It is the "Granddaddy" of the Mountain Guns.
