This morning, Fox news announced the Federal Government is " considering" creating new federal guideline restrictions for those who wish to purchase firearms, and live in " border states ".

They will be monitoring the fed " chatter " and will update as it's reported.

Just now on Fox...the president is considering an executive order that will affect gun control rights throughout the country. It's his response to the "out-cry" over the shootings in Arizona. You can get the gist of it at this link.

The second link is NOW.

OK, next the ATF / feds announce the guns are still leaving to Mexico...hmm. America, say's D.C., We will need to extend the laws one state above and around those four states...Then, sit back and wait for the next announcement that will effect your state, wherever you live.

These are not restrictions in the least. Merely reporting requirements that apply to FFLs. Your rights are in no way being infringed.

So, in your opinion, the restrictions won't have any effect on gun owners nationwide? And that is not the goal of this administration?

How about an executive order where the ATF cannot sell or give away more than 2 guns in a week?

A Border Officer might have been alive today. This is the issue that got me mentally involved, more than I may have been.

Sending weapons to be "discovered" later in Mexico, just to advance their case for stopping weapon sales to law abiding Americans is what the issue was all about. And as a result, a LEO his life.

Does anyone, anywhere, actually believe they were being taken there by gun-runners, with the feds turning a blind eye, allowing known gun-runners to buy them in bulk, so they could be traced to a gang?

Give me a break here.

I have personally heard this, along with other LEO's..." Honestly officer, I found this pot and was on the way to the police department to turn it in". That makes as much sense as "tracing a weapon to a gang in another country. Who was going to trace them after they crossed the border? Mexican police, Federales?

Come on!!!!

Amen and to the commentator who said its merely a reporting requirement for FFL's.. yeah right....so you buy two ar 15's and five days latter you'll get a knock at the door from Agent Friendly of the ATF who is here to help you and just wants to look at your recent purchase. Tell him to come back with a warrant signed by a judge issued upon an affidavit of Probable cause and you will be happy to show him your new purchase, otherwise the local cops can have him charged with trespassing for refusing to leave your property. but smile when you tell him this and be polite.

One more burning question I can't get out of my head. Why was this supposed trace going on? While you're thinking about that, try this on for size.

The anti-2nd amendment admin had been broadcasting day after day, the story about " most of the confiscated weapons in Mexico were coming from the United States "...That was proven to be a lie, or should I say a miscalculation.

So, if the current admin, thanks to the "tracing weapons to gangs thing ", could prove beyond any reasonable doubt ( to the gullible folks watching the news, and reading the paper ), that 2nd amendment folks were standing behind killers, they might... just might win over enough folks who would be willing to roll-over, and go along with their plan...which is to eventually stop long-gun / semi automatic weapon sales to Americans.

As it is now, with the new executive order, they have in place a federal registration of all Americans who purchase weapons on their hit list.

What's wrong with that?.....lots.

Maybe the new rules is because ATF is afraid of competition. They want a monoply on furnishing guns to the cartels.

Raven: yes and yes.

I realize you disagree. I can't convince you otherwise. No biggie.

During WWII when the subject of a Japanese invasion of the US mainland was discussed it was dismissed out of hand that there are guns behind every blade of grass and that an invasion was doomed to fail. Maybe there are powers that are looking to change that assessment.

It sounds good to gun owners, but it's a myth. Japan had neither teh amphibious lift capability to conduct a viable assault on the US mainland, nor did it have the sealift to maintain such an invasion. They were lucky to get away with the relatively short length operations against lightly defended colonies in the western Pacific.

Massive land-based US bombers would have decimated a Japanese amphibious fleet as it sailed to the western US shores.

I doubt anyone was, at the time, thinking about what "capacity " Japan had or didn't have after finding out what atrocities happened at Pearl Harbor. Any suspicions held by anyone old enough to realize what had just happened, were certainly justified.

Nice to have hindsight, but when you're being attacked, you can't very well incorporate hindsight because it's happening right then.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda discussions come later for armchair types who can only speculate the horror that was filling the minds of everyone waking up in America on December 8, 1941.

Call me paranoid but it seems quite possible the the ATF "Fast and Furious" program was a well orchestrated initial step in Obama & Clinton's attempt to make a case for the need for new U.S. gun control laws and/or to gain support for the Arms Trade Treaty.

Your not paranoid.

So according to you, I/we have nothing to worry about from the current administration/government?

american rights & mexican gangs

I don't know if your aware that many of the mexican military and police work for the drug lords. The zeta gang was an elite group in the mexican military till the drug lords offered them 10 times what the military pay is. Our own government has assisted these murderers and will use them as an excuse to disarm you. This government no longer fears the people. The believe we are just stupid sheeple who will go along , as long as we aren't hassled much. NOW is the time to rally in D.C. With our rifles to let them know who really has the power. Or you can wear chains , its up to you.
