Trying to get through ALL the choices, especially with S&W...
Want to stay with Ruger or S&W. 38Special or .357 Magnum.
Oh, and stainless steel only. No poly's please. And current production-something I can, at least, price new?
Ruger has the SP101 but the GP100 doesn't have anything under 3", correct?
S&W has the, what, Models 19,60,66,637? Correct? Anything else. Some of these J frames, some K?
Thanks for putting up with my laziness of not, agonizingly, going through the S&W website.
Oh, do have the Airlight(642), so I AM familiar with that line.

The 19 and 66 have been out of production for several years. New, less than 3", stainless, you already have the 642...

J - 60, 637 (alloy frame, standard hammer), 638 (alloy, Bodyguard), 640, 649 (steel Centennial and Bodyguard, both in .357); 2 and some in 2.5"

L - 686 and 686 Plus in 2.5"

Enjoy the hunt.

There is a Performance Center model, and a Night Guard model, that hold 8 rounds.

Haha, I was automatically thinking you should go all-out and just get the 627 snubby. Thats the one I'm always tempted to pick up to match my 627 5"

Be aware that the N-frame 2 5/8" PC627 UDR, SKU #170133 & MSRP $1,049, is current production... and addictive. I sold some nice firearms to fund the first one - and then, again, for the second one (House gun!?)!

Those are just sexy....

Shame that you want to stick with Stainless Steel. The 327s are great carry revolvers if you want more firepower.

The 2" 327Sc which is often called the 327 Carry or the 327 PC is an 8 shot pug nosed 357 Magnum revolver. This carries very well in the front pocket of a pair of 5.11 Covert Tactical pants.

Then there is the less expensive 327 Night Guard. I have switched to this for carry because of the Ashely Big Dot tritium front sight

Not to say that I do not love my J-frames.

I prefer full length ejection rods on defensive revolvers, you get that with K and L frame 3" or N frame 3 1/2".

Due to the far supperior trigger mechanisms on the smiths I would recommend them over the ruger sp101. I own a J frame smith and an sp101. Both stainless by the way. The trigger mechanism on the rugers are terrible. You can however shoot the hell out of 357 magnums in the sp101 without any problems. Not so much with the smaller frame smiths IMHO. Hope that helps and you enjoy whatever you choose.
