My wife and I went out today with the new Sigma and our 442 snubbie. Although my wife prefers the 442, she did enjoy the Sigma as well. Neither of us saw the trigger as any big deal...it feels much like the 442, in fact. We only put 100 rounds through it at a sand pit, but no FTFs, FTEs, stovepipes, etc. Accuracy-wise, I started to get the hang of it after a couple of magazines. Still need alot more practice, though.

I guess the only real complaint I have so far is the guns from S&W now come in cardboard boxes, not the blue plastic cases that S&W was putting their guns in just a few month ago. The plastic cases weren't the greatest...but A LOT better than cardboard!

S&W 40

Glad to hear from you about family connection. I am new here tonight and am picking up my 1st gen 40 Sigma in a few days. How was the recoil in your experience? Hope to enjoy mine as much as you.

I agree, I think the trigger is no big deal which seems to be the only real complaint I hear. Maybe my trigger is better than others?

Regardless, since its been 100 percent reliable its my carry gun for when its not flaming hot.

Congrats. on the 40ve i have one and the 9ve and i just love both of them would not trade or sell either one:)

Congratulations to both and welcome.

The trigger thing is the most overblown thing on the internet.

Enjoy your sigmas!

Recoil not bad at all for a .40 even at only 24 oz or so. Ergonomics seem to help. In fact, the .38 442 snubbie is quite a bit more snappy (and louder!) with regular, not even +P ammo. Of course it's a lot lighter and has a 1 7/8" barrel.

I cleaned up both guns yesterday and will be taking out the Sigma tomorrow and hopefully put at least 100 more rounds through it. I really love this gun. I researched it, and others, for six months before I bought it. Due diligence paid off.

I had never shot a striker type pistol before. My local gun shop had the Sigmas on sale for $299 plus tax.I bought the .40 caliber. My first few rounds shot thru it were great, except for the striker pin hitting my hand. After figuring out how I was holding it incorrectly it was a blast to shoot! I bought 2 extra clips and shot over a 100 rounds at the range that evening.Since then I have put about a 1000 rounds thru mine with no problems at all.At first the trigger was kind of stiff but now it has loosened up a little.I would never sell mine!

You semi guys break me up. I have 70 clips for my 10mm S&W and 30 clips for my 45ACP S&W. Means I don't ever have to do any reloading at the shooting bench and I can take every casing home with me. Yeah, they're both wheelguns and I LOVE shooting with clips.

BTW, the reason I posted is that I was told the change to the cardboard box only happened with the guns that have seen a recent and large reduction in price. Basically, the J frames and Sigma that saw about a 100 dollar reduction in street prices. Spend the bucks for a new 686 or 625 and you still get that pretty blue box. Personally, I'd rather have paid 100 bucks less for my new 625 JM and got cardboard, so I wouldn't be complaining too much about that cheap cardboard.
