West Virginia State Police keeping 4566's

Very nice looking gun!

Me thinks I know who's 4566 that is too, judging by the user name and lack of the attached light. :D

Why don't they just make several hundred more whenever an agency wants a 3rd Gen to sale on the market? That 4566 is hotness!

For The Love of God and All Things Holy!

That is what I'm talkin' about baby!!!!!! AMERICAN STEEL!!!!!!! I would pay a good deal of American dollars (not pesos, euros, francs, etc) for that. Heck, put a 5 inch barrel on that thing and I'll run all the way to MA from NC on blood nubs and pay in silver for one!

I just don't get it. S&W could turn a profit if they still offered it. If you need a gimmick, call them 4th generation. They obviously still have the means to produce these, and I just don't buy the fact they can't make a profit on these. Its kinda like Colt and the AR15. They're already set up for it and could make a higher margin if they sold them commercially or offered what customers want. If S&W has a site set up for steel frame production, and I assume they do since they offer multiple 1911 models, there is no reason they couldn't produce another series of steel frame autos.

S&W do you hear me? Do you even care?

Don't forget they still make the all metal 952 as well and sell them for $2000.

I'm with you and have commented on this many times. S&W evidently has a (poor) marketing plan that sees Glocks and other polymer pistols as the only competition, and must think metal gun sales would cannibalize sales of their M&P's.

SIG and Beretta seem to take a smarter approach in this regard.

Thank you gotuonpaper!! :)

Beautiful pistol. They got to be pleased with those!

Why we can't get something like that is beyond me. Regards 18DAI

Price WV Troopers pay for 4566

You know the WVSP are probably paying under $750 per gun for those and S&W is still making decent profits.

If they were to make a limited release of Melonite 4566's with the rail they could probably sell them all day with a MSRP of $850 or $900 and up. The SIG P220's in .45 seem to sell for around $850.

I personally would prefer one without the rail but they would probably sell better with them.

Throw in a few 10mms too!

If S&W would produce an over-run of a couple of hundred 4566s they would definitely sell. While they are at it -- they could crank out a few hundred 1066s with a rail and melonite finish and probably get $1K+ per unit from the 10mm fanactics like me!

Re: Talking Throw in a few 10mms too!

Now you're talking! I'd even pay in advance for one of those. :D

$750 per unit with a minimum order of 750 pistols is the invoice/order I saw a copy of.

Email S&W to sell these. I did. Also, send an Email to Lew Horton. I was told if enough interest was shown they would do an order.

I had gotuonpapers photo's up on my screen this AM. Seven different officers asked "what pistol is that?". Everyone of them said they wanted one. One officers agency is carrying 4566's currently. S&W offered them the free M&P deal last year, they passed too. :) Regards 18DAI

OK, that's one order for half a million dollars $$$. Let's hope other agencies follow. I bet a lot of them that currently buy metal framed SIGs in .45 will be interested.

S&W may get more interested if they have to set up a line and have all of the tooling set up for this gun.

I really like your idea about us contacting Lew Horton. How about also with the guys that do the Talo guns? Are they tied in with Lew Horton or is there some way to contact them?

That is one good-lookin' pistol.

Thank you for the pics, it's nice to put a face to the name.

Great idea on bugging S&W and Lew's too, what product code do we use?

As promised...sorry for the delay. Hope you all like.

Nice looking pistol, I'll send S&W and Lew Hortons email too.

Anyone know the SKU number on this WVSP 4566TSW? gotuonpaper? Thanks! Regards 18DAI

Well, if I were to go on the stories that filter down through the tunnel to here about the WVSP, I would say they kept the 4566s just because there isn't anything better to pistol whip someone with ( I kid just a little bit).

that is a nice lookin pistol for sure.

The SKU on these melonite integral rail 4566TSW's is 108263.

Can anyone get us some of these? Regards 18DAI

18DAI - what's the number for the 4586TSW version? ;) I'd prefer one of those.

(I'm kidding about them existing guys, don't get all juicy on me.)

I believe they are always looking for good recruits...... I'm a native West Virginian myself, exiled to Ohio for now. Those WVSP are actually well trained, great guys. My high school football coach was a high ranking guy there for a long time before becoming sheriff of the county I grew up in.

I believe if you want to trade in your cowboy hat for a ball cap you would find West Virginia to be a nice change of pace from Oklahoma!
