Tyler T Grip company shutdown - shipping again

tyler t?

well its going on 5 weeks and i havent got my tyler t in yet, anyone hearing any news? i know some folks have been waiting for mnths.

the 5.00 thing is an exaggeration, but considering the real tyler is the same price made of milled aluminum i'd think a plastic copy would cost less.

FYI..the Tyler is a casting, not milled. Once out of the mould it just has to be polished or powdercoated and the copper keeper swagged into place...

Here's my story...
I had ordered one for a J-frame a couple of years back (2006/2007) timeframe. When I finally got that one (it took about eight weeks as I remember), the bottom edge was so sharp it actually cut my finger the first time I shot it. I called their "customer service" and asked about a replacement. I was told that was the way the guy made it and if it didn't work for me, I should either file it down or sell it. Not the answer I was looking for. I ended up deciding that I prefered my J-frame with just the old fashion service grips anyway. (I still have the t-grip in my box of "stuff.")
Fast-forward to this year. I ordered one for my K-frame square back in April. I hadn't heard about the issues otherwise I would have waited. That's what I get for not doing some research ahead of time. Because of family obligations and moving to a new house, I forgot all about it. Then, surprise, in late July/early August it finally showed up. I had given up on it. The workmanship seems to have improved. The piece was well finished with no sharp edges and cleaned done.
I'm not saying that everyone should run out and get one now. I'm just throwing my $0.02 in to the mix. Would I order another one from them? Based solely on the fit and finish of the last one I ordered, yes I would. But, I think that I would wait a couple of months and see what kind of experiences others have with their customer service.
Thanks,
Doug

Seems now like hundreds of folks who thought they'd been swindled are getting their product. Yeah ~ in a perfect would it would never have happened.

However, I like it when an American company turns things around.

I guess some have never dealt with property and assets upon the death of a loved one. When all the relatives show up like buzzards to see what they can get their mitts on.

That is what was going on with Tyler, Bryan the owner is really a nice person, took a long time for things to settle. And now the so called thief is delivering.

Only in America

I will believe it when I see it December 2010 and still waiting. Two recent letters to Tyler no response.

Better late than never

My little yellow envelope arrived today. I ordered the Ruger GP100 trigger shoe on 12-8-2010

Unfortunately for me the Ruger is long gone so I'll have to sell the trigger shoe.

Whoever took over the Tyler shop seems to be doing a decent job. Too bad we all had to put up with a year of nonsense.

I am a fan of the magnas & t-grip combo, but only have one 3R t-grip for a dozen S&W's. I recently acquired a NIB #1 to install on a J-Frame, and upon inspection, found it to have poor fit and edges sharp enough to potentially cut my hand. I had hoped to buy a dozen of each type to outfit my whole collection in magnas & T-Grips, but between the backlog, high after-market prices, and poor fit, I think I may choose instead to have Ahrends make a bunch in some nice oil finished maple.

Updated to add: After reshaping with 220 grit, smoothing with 500 grit, and finishing with 1200 grit, the fit is still imperfect, but serviceable. I sure like the classic look of this combo. I would rather pay $50 for a T-Grip that is made right and delivered on time than $25 with poor fit and finish and long wait time. I run a small business too, and I sure as heck make sure everything I send out is first-rate and prompt. It is a personal business decision, for me, to never sell anything I do not have in stock. If I haven't made an item yet, I don't sell it. I would actually buy several 3R's and a couple #1's, if and when they are actually for sale, and exist, at the same time. Here's my favorite 640 nodash with the #1 T-Grip.

Mine came in yesterday ordered in April 2011.

Been a customer for many years.

Tyler has settled it's unfortunate problem, and I will continue doing business with them in the future.

I have dealt with them in the past before all the drama in the last year. But I wont hold the new owners responsible for the cations of the past owners as they seem to be working hard to make up for others mistakes.

The two silver polished t-grips for a K and a J frame that were the balance of a January 2011 order arrived yesterday. Quality was very good. The new owner has turned things around as far as I'm concerned, and buy from him again, I will!
