what rounds are you guys carrying in your 27 snubbies?

curious on what rounds you guys are carrying in your 27 snubbies when your out and about? have been packing glasser saftey slugs due to overpennetration loking for thoughts on what others carry in theres

How in the world do you carry 27 snubbies? I can barely carry three!

Seriously, I like the idea of Glaser and Magsafe ammo but have never had any luck with them accuracy wise.

I use CorBon DPX.

I don't carry my 3 1/2" 27 (no holster for it), but when it's loaded at home, I use the same thing I use in all of my .38s and .357s, the Federal 157gr. LSWC-HP "FBI" load. It's been accurate and controllable in everything I've shot it through, from my Model 36 to a 6" Model 27.

I sumtimes loader 'er up with Winchester 145 STHPs and a dollup of 2400...Good'n stout load.

Or the same as above in a factory loading.

I don't have 27 snubbies but I do have quite a few. When I carry them I load my .357s with Remington 158gr JHPs or Buffalo Bore Heavy .38 spl 158gr LSWCHP. Nothing fancy.

On the Glaser Safety Slugs - I don't trust them. They're too light, not enough penetration, and, in my experience using them on a couple of irate animals, they're more advertising hype than substance.

Don't have a model 27 but in my 2 1/2" model 19 I like 158 gr. lead SWCHP w/gas check and HS-6 pushing it.

If 627's count, I carry my 627-PC snub with 158 grain lead SWC's over 2400...357 loading of course.

Another vote for the Winchester 145 grain Silvertip. It can be hard to find, though.

I am a fan of the 357 158 gr Hydrashok JHP myself it gets excellent penetration and expansion from my S&W UDR snubbie. Consistant and better then most other rounds i've used through it...as a rough idea for comparison. Make no mistake. The .357 Magnum earned its vaunted reputation with Remington’s 125 grn SJHP at an advertised 1450 fps.

If 125’s at 1450 are the Gold Standard, I figured 125’s at 1600 would be even better.
That’s what I’m loading all my .357 Mags with now. I haven’t shot anybody, but if I do I’ll let you know.

I'm currently testing Buffalo Bore 38 Special +P and that is such SUPERB ammo for self-defense I will probably switch over to that.
