Why do YOU carry a revolver?

Except for the Webley Fosbery most revolvers operate in the same fashion. Either you gotta cock it first or just pull the trigger to make the gun work. Autos have gizmos and safeties and interlocks and a lot of baloney specific to individual guns. I can change revolvers for carry and not worry which one I have. Also depending on the gun you can wind up with as much money tied up in magazines as you paid for the gun. I do keep a 9mm FN next to the bed.

I carry a model 60 2'' barrel and love, it I tried a ati 1911 commander nice gun, just like the snubbie better

The only autos I would carry would be a Colt 1911 or a good clone. Or a Hi Power. And the Star Firestar in 9MM.

They all are based on the 1911 and are single-action capable of being carried "cocked-and locked" and although you have to "sweep a safety" to jump start one THAT is all you have to do.

But a revolver, in my case a Chief's Special with bobbed hammer, is actually the best carry for me. I can shove it into a pocket and it "carries". It will do what I need if I need it.

carry a lady smith with crimson trace laser grips and a colt detective like knowing every time I pull the trigger I hear a bang.

Ah, Revolvers

Early 70's Bulldog with 44 spl rounds! Just a little larger than a J frame and shoots a big bullet 5 times! Not a Smith, which I have my share, but it works every time, always. Wish Smith would build a 44 spl this size!

They did, at one time (the 696.)
Too bad they discontinued them. If they were smart they'd start producing them again. The problem is everyone's going for lightweight Scandium/Titanium Alloy these days.

Funny you say that. I'm still kicking myself for not having cash with me last Friday. I was waiting for an office lunch and stopped by my friends gun store to kill some time. A guy walked in with a Charter Arms Bulldog Pup snub nose .44 special he wanted to sell. The clerk looked up the value, and was only able to offer him $60 outright, and the guy didn't really want to trade on anything else, just needed some cash.

Not sure how much he wanted for it, but if I'd have had $100 on me I think I'd own that gun right now. Never owned one, but always wanted one for some odd reason.

To answer the O/P, I carry a J frame revolver because it fits in my pocket holster and my ankle holster better than the Glock 26.

I frequently carry a 337 Ti on the ankle or in a pocket. The reasons are the same as already stated...Reasonable power for size and weight. Its reliable and not too sensitive to ammunition type or bullet shape. It's simple to operate and can be operated in less than ideal positions. Contact distances are not a problem. I started out in law enforcement with a M10 and carried revolvers on and off duty for a good many years. I don't exclusively carry revolvers but I prefer the J Frame to the little .32/.380 autos.

I like the fact that I can fire my 642 from my jacket pocket and it won't jam, fail to cycle, or get caught on anything.

Oh, and they don't make enough .357 mag semi autos.

Many other reasons have been mentioned. The reliability and simplicity are two reasons I personally like them. I can shoot them well so my personal performance with them isn't a factor.

They're also just really cool.

I carry a revolver because of the (KISS)THEORY =KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.
No safetys to worry about ,Jams are almost unheard of.
And more choice of caliber than autos.
