Dear Folks, New to forum and have started collecting (very modestly) again after a 12-year pause. So I got my Mass permit and have bought two Model 1950's a 4" and a 6.5" (still on it's way here). The 4" S/N S145xxx came with "Fitz-right" toy six-shooter grips and no original grips. I bought some goncalo alves smooth presentation grips, expecting them to fit, but they do not. See pictures. I do not believe these can be modified successfully, so I will try them on a newer model 29. I think there must be some differences in the frame. I have some correct era accessory coke bottles on the way with the 6.5". I have also ordered some aftermarket service-style grips.

What are my options here?

They kinda sorta look like they are for a K frame.

Nice sixgun. What caliber is it?

Maybe a K Frame

Looks like you've got a set of K frame stocks on an N frame gun...

I've never owned a K frame so I'm not sure how similar they are.

These grips a S&W accessory presentation grips. They were sold to me as N frame grips and they come very, very close to fitting, just a hair off. They are the 1970's goncalo alves smooth presentation grips that were sold in the blue & white S&W hanging display package back in the 70's. I was wondering whether the frame changed dimension slightly over the years. But as you say, the could be K frame grips. I bought them on line used as N frame grips, but I wonder now whether they are.

The gun is a model 1950 (pre 24) and the serial range places the date of manufacture in 1955 - 1956 according to Supica & Nahas.

Thank you for the responses.

Pictures of Inside

44R, give us a picture of the inside of the grips and we can tell you if they are for a K-frame.

Here are the pictures of the insides of the stocks.

The person that sold them to you online didn't know what he was talking about - they are K frame......... your picture proves this.
Send them back for a refund or exchange.
