Very nice. So is the quick release a reliable item, holds your original position I mean?

If you mean the quick release at the rear end, yea, not as strong as the OEM design, but I drilled in a hole and epoxied the two cups. It holds with my Magpul MS3 Multi-Mission Sling, again the rifle is so light. I wouldn't try to hang from it.. This setup is a clone of my Spike Tactical, I love the ability to train on a diet, but keep my skills for a fat boy... Lifes good, this weapon is fun and tacticool...

True, my M&P changed about 2 times, had a bi-pod earlier, took it off, not intending to shoot 100yards. It's were I want it to be for now but based on my AR15s, which have stayed the same a few years, I think this will be it's end. I am planning on getting another M&P 15/22 maybe next year. For sure the MOE and what ever improvements they have in 2013..

Aceman,
I am curious about the Miculek compensator, since every 15-22 I have seen that is Ca Compliant has no threaded barrel, is adding this allowed after purchase? I saw a comment on here sometime back that the 15-22 was exempt from the flash /compensator rule in Ca., yet all the compliant ones don't have a threaded barrel! If not legal for all residents are LEO's exempt? Great job by the way, I would think a way to get the weight up a bit to match your 5.56 you could add a bit of lead in the grip area, or possibly in the extension tube since it does't function the same as the 5.56!

It simple, not really, but a RIM fire is not considered an Assault Rifle, being that it is not a CENTER FIRE ammo. So the flash or compensator rule does not apply to the M&P 15/22, in fact neither does the mag. release. All my AR15's are CA legal (with a bullet button) for later when I really retire. The only laws that apply for the M&P 15/22 is the fact that you still can't have a high capacity mag. so we have 10/25 mags or 10 rd shorty mags. The law is 12276.1.(a)..

LEO were exempt before, but they are attempting to pass a law that retired can't have all the evil items on their AR15 when they leave the force. Maybe it's time to leave CA.... I'm thinking about it.. But family, friends is more important than a silly rifle, but it's wearing on me..

Hey "Ture Shooter", you are correct, I just swapped the Sightmark for the Vortex with 2X onto the M&P, so I will move things around and modify it more I'm sure... "Words you never want to hear" got it..

Here's one for you, "When a woman says NO, does she really mean Yes".

Aceman,
Did you notice any difference in felt recoil/muzzle jump when you installed the compensator?

Looks like you need to move the optic one notch forward. It looks as if the rear sight will make contact if put into use.

Nope. The Magpul sights pivot roughly in the middle so they won't interfere.

Don't forget, the stock slides out when I use it, two clicks, so the optics don't contact the old glasses.

As far as the compensator, there is very light recoil, but what is left is tamed by the compensator, it really does control the rifle during shooting. You put the Red Dot on the target, squeeze the trigger, it goes off, you are still on the target with the Red Dot, it's really amazing. Followups are fast and accurate.... I think the added weight and vents play a part..

Bowlseye, thank you, I like the end results as well. But the fun was putting it together, then shooting it at the range. I call it my Happy rifle, why because everyone that shots it, has this big *** smile on their face after a few rounds.. Keepem in the Xring.

That is a very sweet gun, My wife has heard me say Im done with my mods 4 times needless to say she doesnt beleive me so when I get a new toy I get her one also takes the sting out a little.....lol on another note I was gonna try the effin-a compensator but dollar for dollar ive heard more raves about the miculik think it will be my choice........:D
