I guess I'm partial to .40 S&W because that's the only large-ish semiauto I have. I have some Colt and Smith 1917s that throw big 45 caliber chunks of metal downrange, and I like those too. With the moon clips they are almost as fast to reload as the 4006, but I have to do it about twice as often.
I also have a PPK/S in 9mm kurz, or .380. l like that one too, but it doesn't count as a large semi-auto. It would do in a pinch, but I prefer the way the 4006 behaves in my hands.

Yes but there is a difference. Well versed. And not well versed.
And what the cops carry isn't neccessarily the best choice for all. It certainly isn't for me.

Always keep in mind that their (cops) weapons are built by the lowest bidder.
and a big reason they went to a smaller caliber is because some could not handle the recoil, not just because of penetration, expantion, hydroshock etc etc etc

You obviously don't know that of which you speak. Local law enforcement agencies don't have to buy from the lowest bidder . . . you must have them confused with NASA.
And you should learn to take a joke also my friend.... 
I learned long ago if something doesn't make sense, it probably isn't so, and those statements don't make any sense at all.
Lowest bidder? I have heard Glock bought their way into many departments, but I don't think they are any longer. There is a discount, but I bet you'd get a discount if you buy a hundred or so. And yes most manufacturers will discount their carry guns to first responders.... It's a marketing ploy. When civilians see lots of LEOs and military carrying an M&P, they tend to trust the brand.
And if we are going for lowest recoil, a 9mm is lower than a .40, and a .45 is lower than a .40. So is a 38 and a .380. So it makes sense to me that recoil is NOT the deciding factor to move to a .40.
You want to try to explain the big move to .40 cal again?

wow the whole lowest bidder thing is another joke thats been around a long time get out more bud. and i dont need to explain anything if you like your .40 more power to ya. by the way the .40 S&W is a cartridge not your child stop getting your panties in a bunch because I made a joke about it.
If this were true cops wol carry **** weapons like Loricon or Davis. To the contrary police weapons have always been on the high end of the gun market.

Thank you Hook686-I have saved this data and image for future threads of this variety.
I switched to 40 simply because the wife and I shoot 40 better. I find I get less muzzle flip so I get faster more accurate follow up shots. Everybody is different. I also shoot 45 well so I have a couple of those two. If I an heading into bad territory I carry my FNP-45 15+1 rounds of 45 acp. I also carry two spare mags, that makes 46 rnds of 45 acp. I don't try to conceal the FNP, I only open carry it.

It was a watered down 10mm load thats like putting your finger into a dike to stop the flood. It serves no usefull purpose other than to sell pistols and ammo for a useless cal.

The closest bullet weights we can find to compare. All Speer Gold Dot:
9mm 147gr - 317ft/lbs
.40 155gr - 496ft/lbs
.45 185gr - 453ft/lbs
You can get +p in 9 and 45 which helps these numbers.
The .40 is a high pressure hard hitting round, there's no doubt about it.
The BEST 9mm Speer Gold Dot +P round comes in at 410ft/lbs. That's still 20% lighter than the .40, in fact it's lower than the lightest hitting .40 .
Hey, I carry a 9c. I also carry a .380. But I know the performance of each... I think maybe somebody has been blowing smoke up your skirt....
