1) Striker Fired

2) 9MM or 40S&W

3) 19 ounces

4) 3.1 barrel

5) $449 S&W list price

6) .95 thick

7) 6.1 length

Sounds just like a Taurus PT709 SLIM OR PT740 SLIM
with that weight, sizes and calibers. We'll have to see
what the street price is in the future.

With back up and belly guns selling a boat load it should sell.

The biggest thing that I am impressed about, is that S&W has already got accessories in the works; see lasers to be available from:Crimson Trace, Laserguard, & Lasermax, 2 different fiber optics sight vendors, Big Dot sights, and several holsters from various manufacturers. Doesn't appear to be any production lag, as there are several for sale on GunBroker as I type this.

It seems to be a great larger caliber alternative to all the .380 pocket rockets currently flooding the market. There will certainly be a lot of criticism, but S&W deserves credit for constantly trying maximize its product line. I like the idea ... a lot.

It's butt ugly. The trigger appears to have broken in half, and looks as if someone did a poor job of trying to splint it back together. Looks like it is made mostly of plastic. I bet it stinks, too. Probably would make me break out if I handled it. I think I'll stick with my Model 60/36/37 for concealed carry. If I feel like I need more than five rounds, I'll carry two of them.;)

My little LGS has 2 on the way. Heck they even had the Ruger 1911 on the shelf today. If I had some money I would have snagged that. Nice looking and appears well made.

Back to SW plays catch up.;)

I don't own anything polymer. That said, I believe this product serves a distinct niche market and I am interested.

I couldn't bring myself to buy another brands compact polymer; but i'm certainly brand loyal to S&W. If the early reviews are positive, i'll give it six months or so and get one.

Kind regards

put 50 rounds though mp9mm shield 115 and 124 grain. Novice shooter but at 7 yd and 15 yds grouping was consistent for cw easy to line up and shoot trigger bout 6lb. Would i buy again yes.

Look at the reviews on the shield......

I havent seen a single negative review.....

Do you think that you might be able to convert the 9mm shield to 40 S&W by changing out the barrel?

lol .. what you don't know. It's a great little gun that is getting gobbled up faster than you can blink. There are MANNNY positive reports on the 'net about it's ergonomics, reliability, low recoil, same quality as the M&P line, but a better stock trigger. You can shoot this all day loonng and not get sore. Like to see anyone do that with a Nano. or a LC9 :D even a jframe.
