S&W pocket 9mm?

Th eonly "Pocket 9's" I would currently be interested in are:

Kimber Solo (metal)
S&W CS9 (metal- no longer in production)
Ruger LC9 (polymer framed)
Kahr

As I much prefer alloy framed guns, I'd only buy the Ruger as a truck gun or just on price.

For the best combination of quality and function- The Solo and CS9 beat everything else hands down.

S&W is really missing the upper end of the market by not re-issuing the CS9.

Don't take this wrong, being an avid collector of Gen 3 S&W, I have recently replaced my 3913 as my EDC. The replacement is a LC9. Comparing the two, the 3913 is a much better pistol, but for up close and personal situations the LC9 is much more concealable and is good to a maximum of around 10-15 yards. I would not attempt to accurately hit anything beyond 20 yards. The 3913 is still my favorite. The only CS model I have is a CS45 and not the CS9 so I cannot compare it to the LC9

One of my co-workers had an early Sigma in .380. He "wore it out" within a year and sent it back to the factory. Thanks to the Lifetime Warranty that so many of us enjoy the factory sent a brand new replacement to his local dealer. It seems that our friends at S&W knew that the pocket sized Sigmas would not last forever and were prepared to replace the failing ones that were worn out by their original owner.

I regret never shooting that little Sigma but it just didn't appeal to me. Of course that was also before the time where I was forced to carry a G23 and later the M&P40 so I was still a die hard 2nd and 3rd generation Smith fan. ;)

I'll have to check the catalog to see how many of those pocket sized Sigmas they made. I bet it wasn't too many!

I really have to disagree with you on the Solo...lots of reports of problems with the Solo. Also, Kimber only offers a 1 year warranty, and it is a lot more expensive: the LC9 is selling in my area for under $400 now, and the Solo is about $300 more, I believe...if you can find one. None of the local shops here have them.

There have been few reports of problems with the LC9, and Ruger has great customer service (no time limit specified) if there are any. The LC9 is a great carry pistol, very reliable, and if you have to use it and the police take it, it can be easily replaced at less expense than the CS9 (good luck finding one) or the Solo.

I had a 3913 TSW at one time (bought it NIB) and stupidly traded it because I didn't like the rail (I found out later I could have sent it to S&W and had the rail removed.) I have regretted letting that one go! I have a LC9, and my wife really likes it too...my local gun shop has a 908 NIB and I am really tempted to get it.

I have a CS9 and really like it. But carrying it in a pocket is not an option. We're talking 26 oz loaded here. I am looking for a new carry gun for warmer months. The CS9 carried IWB isn't great while I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I've narrowed it down to either the Bodyguard .380, or the Ruger LC9. The LC9 has almost identical dimensions to the CS9, but it's 5 ounces lighter fully loaded. it has the mag disconnect and manual safety that I like, and it fired the 9MM round, which i have plenty of on hand since all my semi autos are 9MM. I'm tempted to go the the Bodyguard, but .380 ammo is much more expensive, although the 15 ounce loaded weight of the Bodyguard and pockey carry option (don't know how often I'd pocket carry. I carry enough **** in my pockets) are also appealing. I assume S&W is going to produce a 9MM sub compact one day, but I doubt I'm gonna wait that long.

CS9 is a great belt gun. Pocket 9? Nah.

If we are lookin for a pocket 9... I vote the BG380 all day. Great gun, I'm at the beach this week, been carrying it since I left home. Got MP40c locked away in the RV in case I feel like packing some real protection... since we're heading to P-town tonite, I think the 380 will work just fine.. If size is what counts, the BG makes sense to me. At least it's a S&W if that's what you want. I like the looks and feel of the LC9.. but... still a little big for my pockets.
