I am talking configuration, not Calibre...

I am a big fan of handguns with adjustable sights.

However I have been using a S&W Bodyguard since 1972 and it has shot great, I have killed rabbits and snakes withh it ans I have qualified 100% on my Depts qual course, that included shots at 25 yards.

For quite a while I have debated getting a S&W 44 Mag Snubbie.

I was torn between fixed sights and Adj sights...

Then I got a S&W 325 NG in 45 ACP. It has a large front glow in the dark sight and the Cyllinder and slide rear sight, that is well rounded, and non snagging.

I like the fact that there are no sharp edges in this revolver, AND that the "fixed" sights are BIG and easy to pick up, day or night.

I have carried and shot this gun a lot, I handle it every day, as I keep it under my pillow every night, I have carried it in my front pants pocket, and in coat/vest pockets as well as a holster.

I am thinking that the sights on the Night Guard Series of Revolvers just might be the best choice for all round use on an N Frame Snubby.

Especially if you carry it in places other than a belt holster.

As I under stand it the Cylinder and Slide rear sight is a drop in replacement for the standard S&W adj sight.

Also when it comes to a 41 or a 44 Mag Snubbie, is the Scandium frame or a steel frame the best overall choice???

Personally I find the 325 NG ok to shoot with full power 230gr and 185gr +p ammo. I love its light weight.

I will also say that the 4" 329 with full power 44 Mag ammo is Brutal.
I think it is too much [ie to light] of a good thing...

If a person really plans on needing to shoot full power loads in his 41/44Magnum Snubby, a steel frame gun might be a better choice...

Just some Random Thoughts...

I agree with you on the steel frame in 44's and 45's. I'm partial to my M24-3 3", but I wish Cylinder and Slide made their Heavy Duty rear sight for the older S&W's, as I really like it. One nice thing about the 44spl, as compared to a .357 Magnum, is the muzzle blast and flash aren't nearly as annoying out of a short barreled revolver.

My only snubby N-frames are my 2 5/8" PC627 UDRs. I find their orange ramp easier to pick up in very low light, as in my bedroom, hall, etc, at night, lit by night lights and light leakage from outside street lights, than the night sights on either my 60 Pro or Governor, both equipped with tritium Night Sights. The NS's glow is noticeable in total darkness... but how do you identify friend from foe under such circumstances? Keep in mind, my eyes are 'mature' (63) - it may just be me.

For a fixed sight you must adjust your loads to the gun. For adj you can shoot from mild to wild and adjust the sights to the load. For this reason I would go with adjustable if you plan on shooting at things past typical SD ranges with this firearm.

prior to the release of the Night Guard series my vote would have gone to the 2" pug nosed N-frames

I also like adjustable sights and when the 45 caliber N-frames came out I grabbed 4 extra barrels with the intent of building a few with adjustable sights. Just have not got around to it yet.

The Night Guards are a GREAT value. Obviously Scandium framed revolvers are not intended for hours at the range. But they do carry easy and pack lots of punch.

I have a 310NG, 327NG and 357NG. The 310 (like my 610s) has been opened up to accept 10MM Magnum along with 10MM Auto or 40 S&W in the cylinder. This gives you a moon clip fed revolver with full Magnum power.

Yes I did say 10MM Magnum.

I prefer the 3" bbl. 610, for my 'N-frame' snubbie.

I really like the weight of the steel in my 625-3 but I wish I could add the D&L rear sight to it.

I need to get off my butt and find a good holster for it.

Sweet looking!
Anybody know where I can get a knife like that?
It's a SOG, don't remember the name.
I had one and loved it but I gave it to a friend of mine about 8yrs ago and have missed it since...anybody know of one?

NE450No2 - I concur with your thoughts and thought you might be interested in seeing my 325PD. This one was modified prior to the Night Guard series, with Bobbed hammer, C&S rear sight and big dot front. Rebound spring reduced and Mag na Ported. I carry it often in leather or pocket.

I too have a 310NG, but holy cannolli, colt_saa, 10mm magnum!?! Full power 10mm is about all I can handle though that light weight N-Frame.
Both of my 610s were already opened up for 10MM Magnum so it only seamed natural to open the 310 up as well. My other Night Guards are 357 Magnum and 41 Magnum.

I do not take Night Guards to the range for extended sessions of target shooting. They are to protect my life when the SHTF. In that case I can take 6 shots of magnum with no trouble.

I must have a dozen or more Scandium revolvers. I have been putting full power 357 Magnums through my 340 for almost a decade now. Not fun to shoot, but with practice it is nice to know that you can have that much power available.
