question about the shield, everything I have read so far makes not mention about this, but is it a +1 gun?

In fact the fact sheet on the website even makes no mention of the fact either

What is a +1 gun?

Full mag plus one in the chamber.

The Shield should be a +1 gun like every other gun made today.

ETA: I just noticed the full size and Compact guns say "17+1" & "12+1" Interesting that it's absent on the Shield description.

ETA#2: On hold with S&W now.

Do you mean +1 as in 7 +1 or 8 +1. The +1 refers to one round loaded in the chamber.

Sorry Nakanokalronin, you beat me to it.

Yes I was talking about having one in chamber with the full 7 or 8 mag.

I haven't personally tested this at the range yet, should go some time next week. Just wondering if anyone knew before I go

And why would you wonder if it was a plus 1 gun? Insert the mag, rack the slide, remove mag and insert a bullet and place mag back in pistol. Of course it's a +1 gun-I don't see any need to specify it! YMMV

On hold with S&W now. I'll reply when I get an answer. ;)

Well they specify the other guns as +1 but not the Shield. I'd rather get an answer from the horses mouth, post it on here and kill this thread early. ;)

I'm next in line with S&W, but I just had a thought. It may be because it comes with 2 different capacity size magazines unlike the other models.

ETA: On hold for 54min now. I was first at position 9 but I wonder if anyone is even there now.

ETA#2: Obviously they cut out early since I called before they closed. I'll try again tomorrow morning and update in this thread.

This is too freaking funny - For all you folks with inquiring minds, READ page 17 & especially page 18 of your manual. It describes how to safely load your Shield to a "+1" capacity.

Yup .. but really, you don't have to read the manual to figure that out. It's a semi auto and a given.

Agreed, AND too many folks are taught WHAT to think these days and not HOW to think, hence my reference to the manual!

I always read my manuals from cover to cover even though I have been shooting for 25 years.

So do I. I keep all of my manuals together and handy. I write purchase dates, from where purchased, SN's on them. If I buy a gun that a manual did not come with the gun, I will contact the maker and order one.

I don't have the manual or a Shield in hand yet or I defiantly would of checked that first. I figured it was +1 like every other semi-auto but I didn't want this to turn into another "out of battery" thread by getting a direct answer from S&W that I could type out here.
