ILLINOIS: Wear Your Empty Holster to Work Day Protest

Illinois CCW, I often wonder why nothing would change their minds. You have to figure the BASIC reason pols want to keep guns away from the people is the obvious, and exactly what the Founders warned us against. Beyond that I can't think of any GOOD reasons- I've never had a close-to-reasonable response to 'so we take guns from good people, but crooks still have them. THEN what do we do?' they simply cannot answer it- maybe someone here has an idea for a different answer, from the obvious. (One of the 'obvious' was
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep
and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson

I don't think that will even help. The communistic and corrupt Chicago politicians would blame it on the victim.

Indeed such is often the case with Illinois police as well in my experience. After I heard the words "we can't help you" come from a Illinois State Police dispatcher, I have not traveled through Illinois without a gun in the car. Thanks to an Illinois State Supreme Court ruling I'm legally safe in doing so, though I likely would even if I wasn't.

Who knows what are in the minds of the chicago machine. Have relatives who are LEOs in the area and all they say is how corrupt the Chicago/Cook county system is. Why can't anyone do anything about it? Down state Brady was the strongest contender for governor...very popular. He won 80% of the state but unfortunately the other Chicago/Cook county 20% was a majority. Folks up in cook county and the city need to get their heads out of their asses!!!

As a show of solidarity with my Illinois brethren, I will carry my holster with a gun in it every day for the next foreseeable future. My holster will be full of handgun, but it will be empty in spirit in support of this cause.

I think we are taking the wrong approach here in Illinois. We've be demanding our 2nd amid. rights to people that don't care about them.

We've been on the verge of bankruptcy since the last non-convicted Govenor. We need to educate the 80% uncommitted votes to how much money this state has wasted NOt allowing CCW. We need to educate the 80% uncommitted votes about what kind of revenue we can generate with CCW on this state.

If people in Chicago really knew how much Daley spent grabbing guns while he laid off Teachers, Fire, Police, Streets & San workers they would be screaming.

I'd like to see Illinois offer multi state lic. surpassing Fla & Utah. Allow only Illinois Res. instructors to offer classes in Illinois, in Illinois owned business. Allow the this to be a positive income generator.

It boggles my mind that we can have lotto every were you shop, river boat gambling in boats that don't move get we can not have CCW.

Instead of wearing an empty holster and perpetuating the stereo type, talk to people about their/your rights. Show them you are no different than they are, that the image the antis want them to believe is not true. Talk about the Bill of Rights. Don't talk about Zombies. Break down walls, don't build them.

You do realize that Brady only "won" the cornfields. That map might impress someone that doesn't live or understand this state.

Ill has 12 ml and almost 9ml live in Cook and the Collar counties.
I'm in Lake Co and we have more people here than the entire State of Alaska.

While Brady said he was pro-gun, he was even more Pro-Brady real estate investments and people saw through that. We woulfd have faired much better with Jack Ryan as he could of have swung a lot more votes than Brady.

Until every gun owners gets that Downstater vs. Chicago **** out of their minds and we work together this is not going to happen.

The largest successful lobby in Ill. is the Mototcyclist effort to not wear helmets A.B.E.T.E??? They don't get that done divided.

oldbull said something I try to say but couldn't find the words. I read an article by one of the experts, about him talking to a British gun-nut. He was saying that in England everybody argued "I want a gun' and they lost- and being a frequent visitor to the States he says this is how we fight for gun rights- many people don't give a hoot whether we have guns or not, so when we argue "I want a gun' they ignore us. When we say 'if they ake our rights to guns, as guaranteed by the Constitution, some day they're going to deny YOU a right for something YOU care about.'
The Brit said this made a much better argument, and hoped we would learn the lesson before he couldn't have a gun here, either. FWIW

Chuck - Even the most aggressive Anti would not want to loss their 1st amid. rights. Jefferson offed that without the 2nd there would be no 1st.

I honestly don't feel the objection is the ownership of forearms. I think the true objection is that othe media image of us. The stereo type is a half-wit, inbreed, uneducated, lunatic fringe, fatigue wearing, social time-bomb.

The plain truth is 98% of us are not that or even close. We work, we pay taxes, we raise our families, we own homes, we are as decent as anyone.

We are our own worst enemy sometimes. Billy-RoyBob driving like a jerk in a 4x4, with an NRA & Gun stickers on his tailgate cutting off soccer Mom in her mini van or collage girl in her Prious, is doing more harm than the best anti out there.

The way to be respected as a same responsible gun owner os to walk the walk. Set a goal of turning as many to our side as you can. Show the ANTIs for what they are Anti-Bill Of Rights.

One thing that hasen't been emphasized is joining the NRA. It's great to see that a lot of people on this forum are members but I believe out of the 100 million gun owners in our country less than 4 million of us are in the NRA. I've heard many reasons why people will not join the NRA ie. always asking for more money, can't agree with them 100% of the time, too many mailings, not radical enough etc. The truth of the matter is the NRA has more political clout than any other pro gun entity in the world. If they have that much clout now think what could happen if there were 20 or more million members!

And I agree. What the Brit was saying was- when the argument comes up, you are not going to convince the anti that we have the 2nd Amdmt right and shouldn't lose it. That argument is a waste of time, basically because as you say, they will present us a whackos. But when you have the discussion with someone of an open mind- or no dog in the fight- the best argument is our rights, per the Const, instead of "we can have a doggoned gun if we want!'
Re: the NRA, I dropped my membership a few years ago, tired of constant emails, regular mails asking for money. Then found out you can opt out of all that stuff, so I rejoined. They are in that huge fight right now with the UN trying to make us register etc our guns here in the US. The way our current president acts, he could well agree to that stupid treaty- though the Senate would have to agree- but again, with the tricks they plan up there in DC, we really need the NRA to do what they do.
I'll shut up now- this gets on my nerves, I need to settle down. Yall take care.

a BIG thank you!!!

And let's not forget that Brady would have won had not Cook County "found" enough extra absentee ballots to swing it in Quinn's favor.

[Sarcasm mode on] Maybe a multinational team of election monitors should be assigned to Chicago instead of Sudan and Iraq. [Sarcasm mode off]

Illinois' problem is that democracy doesn't exist in the state.

Cook County contains Chicago, which has a greater population than the rest of the state combined. The current governor, a liberal imbecile who publicly stated he would veto concealed carry, won re-election on four counties, with his conservative challenger winning the rest of the state. One of those counties was Cook county, and he still would have won on Chicago alone. With that kind of a population stranglehold on the state government, "voting out " these imbeciles is not a practical option.

In the graphic below, pro 2A challenger Bill Brady won the red counties. Pat Quinn, the current Democrat occupant, won the blue.

Good Lord. Illinois is more jacked up than I had ever envisioned. Of course, what else would one expect from a state that gave us Barack Obama, the modern day incarnation of the proverbial Chicago political thug. Thank you, Cook County.

First of all quit voting for democrats (or liberals) put a conservative into office, the problem in Illinois is that everything is run by democrats who are liberals, and they think only they should have the rights that you should also have, and if in the next election you can not change that then it is time to think about moving to another State!

Same problem we have here in The People's Republik of Kalifornistan.

The whackjobs running this place don't get elected over & over because of their anti gun agenda. It's just something that comes with the free bread & circuses entitlement mentality.

Too many people think that they and their laws are "stupid." I tell them to look at it from an anti's viewpoint. Baby steps toward total disarming of the law abiding populace. Makes perfect sense and is being very well executed.

They are junketing about in private jets. WE are picking up the tab. I don't think they are that stupid...

I used to live in the Chicago area. I moved south of the mason-dixon line in 2004 and will never, ever return to Illinois.

Those baby-steps may remind many of us of what's happened to the country as a whole. We should remember where our president got his entry into politics.
Social Security- political correctness- violating the most sacred document in the country, the Constitution- Federal agencies making laws of regulation instead of the Congress doing it- over 40 welfare programs many of which do the same things. Then they have us Medicare...Bush gave us pharmacy-care...Most recently the 'baby-step" was national healthcare, question is what's next? As the NRA fights against the UN policy to register/restrict all firearms the world over.....

I'd be willing to bet one of those "blue counties" in the southwestern part of the state contains the sewer known as East Saint Louis. I was advised by a relative who lived in Saint Louis not to ever stop there. His words were, "Unless your car is on fire and you're going to die unless you get out right that moment, keep driving until you're out of East Saint Louis."
