I've got a Trijicon night sights that I would like to install on my shield. Is this something that can be accomplished with a punch and hammer? Or should I just take it to a local gunsmith who has a sight pusher?
The only M&P with an aluminum slide is the M&P22. All the rest are stainless.I was told that the slide on the shield is Aluminum.
IF that is true, you need to be very careful with any steel sight.
You will need to make sure the steel sight is the exact correct size as galling can occour with steel to aluminum interface.
I would suggest a sight pusher only, as the drift and hammer approach will most likely result in galling.
Again, this is only true if the slide is Aluminum.
