Best movie for revolvers?

Treasure of the Sierra Madres

Zulu

The Deer Hunter - hard to play Russian roulette with an auto (or would that be Polish roulette)

Not to pick apart a joke or anything but I was in Afghanistan 2010-2011 and flew in and out of Bagram where several Polish soldiers were stationed. I couldn't figure out what sidearm they were carrying so I found one who spoke a little bit of English and asked him about his pistol. After handling it I would say there might actually be pretty good odds of walking away from a game of "Polish roulette." None the less, it was pretty funny, but I have heard that one before too.

Don't recall the name, but the movie had Lee Marvin. 1970's and he is using a M-27.

Also +1 for Treasure of Serria Madra

I just checked.....The Killers...1964 with Lee Marvin

However, one of the best things I have seen revolver-wise is Tyne Daly reloading her 2.5 in Python in "The Enforcer". Even the director on the DVD commentary makes a point of stating how she practiced with it to get it down. It's so natural and easy, you would think she had handled guns her whole life.

I agree!

I was very impressed with her speedy reload during the shootout at Alcatraz, right after she rescued the mayor.

If you pay attention to the range session early in the film you'll see some two handed revolver shooting that is right up to date with current technique.

I also agree that scene with Tyne Daily in The Enforcer reloading that Colt was a first class example of a reload done right.

Favorite "revolver" movie although not DA would be
The Quick and the Dead. The scene in the gunshop
when they we're getting Russell Crowe a piece showed
some very cool looking single actions. Gene Hackman
handled some beautiful guns as well.
For DA revolvers it would be "The Getaway" with Steve McQueen.

The Raid is a current movie that uses a late model N frame 357.

Great action movie.

The movie is utter garbage, but guns are portrayed in an almost erotic light. "Blue Steel", with Jamie Lee Curtis.

Blue Steel isn't bad. It's an enjoyable thriller. Certainly not Oscar material, but not bad. The opening of that movie is almost gun porn. The detail of that model 10 with the deep blueing made me sell my 64 to get a model 10! The 629 that the bad guy had (Tom Sizemore in one of his first roles) was also beautiful, but i can't see some junkie having a gun like that to do stickups.

Open Range with Costner and Duvall

Are you kidding me! Loved the movie but..At the big gunfight where Costner walks up to the guy and asks him if he killed his friend he continues to fire well over a dozen rounds from the same 6 shooter without reloading. I watch that movie just so I can count the times he fires. Great shoot out scene none the less.

"Bullet" starring Steve McQueen, 1968. He carried a M19 snub in an upside down shoulder holster. I snuck off my beat and into a theater for a short while to watch the famous chase scene.

One of the best (or at least most fun) I've seen recently is Dwayne Johnson in "Faster"...he kicks some *** with a 2.5" Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan in .454 Casull!

Jody Foster as Clarice Starling in "Silence of the Lambs" - particularly her reloading her Model 13 after shooting Buffalo Bill. That is a true classic and probably one of the last modern movies starring (predominantly) revolvers. If you recall, only the Memphis PD SWAT team were using semiautos.

Regards,

Dave

Don't agree with Jody Foster's political views, but she is a great actress and she obviously spent some time learning how to handle a gun for that movie. I remember one scene where she was shooting at the range and she wasn't flinching or blinking. Remember Mel Gibson shooting his 92? Blinked like he had Tourettes.
