Hello I'm new to the forum from Mass. I posted yesterday and got no response. ill start by saying that I'm no firearms expert, so everything I post here is clearly JMO. I have very little experience shooting, it started as a young boy once daddy came home from Nam. dad decided bot to hang around so my experience went out the window until about a couple years ago something sparked my former love for firearms. I had been a Smith fan from dad teachings at a young age. Naturally now I.would gravitate toward them. I started with the M&P 9c I like it. its a good gun that is 100% I'm not good with it though I mean I can hit with it but not with excellent accuracy. Carrying it proved not to be most comfortable and it did print here and there so I looked for a better option. then came the Kahr PM9. That was a good gun I liked it again I can hit with it but not the best. At a shoot one day my buddy put the 1911 old school copy 5in steel framed in my hand and told me I had 8 shots and to tell him what I thought. he didn't like the fact that I was carrying 9mm for some reason. It was love at first shot. At the end of my mag I was willing to give up both guns for a 1911. After some saving I traded the Kahr toward the e-series "round butt" This time it was love at first sight. what a beautiful piece. Before I even fired it, it was like the gun and I were one. I don't know if you understand or not but it was great. Yesterday I went to a shoot. Again it love at first shot. I shot 100rds of wwb. 50rds of blazer. 8rds of Hornady CD. she went bang everytime. I was so accurate with this gun. I don't mean to toot my own horn because I really don't have much experience shooting, but I hit a golf ball on a tee at ten yards, dead on. I was also hitting bullseye and putting rounds in the same hole. the only problem I did have is the rank Meg-Gar mag. its the new design with AFC. on a couple occasions it did nit lock the slide back and on a couple occasions it locked the slide back with a live round dangling in the chamber. I'm pretty sure its the mag because the cheap no name mags Smith sent me performed flawlessly. I'm alittle upset about this I've already retired that 30$ brand new mag. is there something I'm missing here? Should I try a different name brand? Idk because I'm new to 1911 land. if any body have any suggestions please share. I was shooting with by far more experienced shooter and after the first two mags witch included the golf ball hit one buddy couldn't believe that was a new gun and I had just put the first two mags through it and he's well aware of my experience. its like God sent this gun to me because when its in my hand its like and extension of me. ok I don't want to ramble on but in closing I will say one of my buddies is from S&W with well over 30yrs at Smith and gunsmithing. after he lectured me on the good and bad about Smith in the end I asked him if it was a good gun that would save the mass of my family and self he looked at me dead in the eye nodded his head and said sleep well at night knowing she is on guard. I smiled from ear to ear. now he has some crazy trigger jobs. one piece felt like it didn't even have a trigger as I was letting off extras as he laughed. anyway that my experience and I'm pleased to say the least
