We usually have a holiday menu thread. My kids, grand kids and great grand kids love chicken and fortunately the Food Lion had them on sale today. I will just slow cook some on the grill and later dip in some sauce. My daughter is making potato salad and a great strawberry cream cheese pie. I will boil corn on the cob while I cook the chicken. Fresh cantaloupe. tomatoes and cucumbers along with squash casserole will top it off.

Have to get up early because tomorrow is the Feast of Pentecost at church. I will make the early mass so that I can get home and start cooking. What are you guys and gals doing?

Went to the nephew's this afternoon, dinner with his wife and their 7-yr old daughter.
Big sirloin on the grill with garlic and rosemary mashed potatoes and a cherry pie that I baked and brought along.
Good food and quality time with family for me.

Wife and I will be grilling some cow meat--tbones, homemade
potato salad, rolls, corn pudding, and strawberry shortcake for
dessert. Then it will be time for my nap......
Up in time to watch the Indy 500 replay on TV, "It's blacked
out here" and i ain't going to the track in 95 degree weather.
Been there done that...
Got together with the family, and all the grandkids on saturday.
Day of rest and rememberence on Monday.

After we gat back from the range, I'm grilling buffalo burgers. That's burgers made from ground buffalo meat. Don't know what else.

One of my friends is bringing his 9 year old son to shoot with the men. The young man is bringing his 9422. I am going to let him shoot my new Winchester 1892 Deluxe Takedown in .44-40. I don't know who is going to smiling more; the young man, his father, or me.

Went to the gun show in Va Beach yesterday and then put some pork spareribs on the grill to slow cook for a few hours. Pretty disappointed on the gun show, but we still have enough ribs left for a dinner this week.
Now need to figure out what to cook Monday .
Hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day.

We did a tri-tip last night.

Just yesterday, we finished landscaping the yard. Took a while 'cuz I threw my back out. Tore out a bunch of pavers, put in a gravel walkway, built a raised veggie bed, laid new pavers, planted flowers and veggies, painted patio furniture, etc. Has taken us several years.
So...........Burgers with friends tomorrow!

Teriyaki chicken on the grill, corn on the cob, cucumbers and blueberries w/feta cheese and mint white balsamic vinaigrette (seriously). Pit beef at the pool tomorrow.

Peanut butter, butter, and maple syrup well stirred and put into a sammich.:)

today is race food. pizza rolls, taquitos, chips/salsa. grazing.

I have a slab of beef ribs I got from the farm designated for tomorrow. I also have a lot of veggies around so will likely K-bob or foil pouch them.

Aaaand...I have a good malbec I got as a graduation gift (in December, and I STILL haven't opened it so now is as good a time as any) that will help celebrate 20 years of wedded he...bliss with Mr. Wrench.

Today was brisket, low country slaw, sautéed zucchini and yellow squash, crusty rolls, with sweet tea. As tomorrow is the "Lovely and Charming" birthday we will be dining out. I have no idea where yet, but I've got a feeling I'm going to have to put on a tie.

I'll be cooking a Paella, a Spanish rice dish with pork, chicken, sausage, shrimp, and a bunch of seasonings. Said to be the ancestor of Jamabalaya. It is supposed to be 96* outside maybe I won't even need to light the burner, just put the pan out in the sun!
My mother and my wife's father will be here. At 87, he is a WW II vet drove a Higgins boat in the Pacific for the Navy.
A My mother, 88, worked in a defence plant during the war.
We'll beremembering my Dad who was in the Philippines and occupied Japan during the war.
A salute to all the Vets!

Well, ours went well today! Glad that we did it today before this BERYL comes back and smacks us with some more rain. Food was good and everyone behaved. Tomorrow my great grand daughter and I will go out for pancakes for breakfast, and then do some shopping. Unfortunately. my wife can't get her body going before noon due to her disabling degenerative CNS disease. After we get home, I will fire up the grill again and cook some chicken meals for the hungry that our church passes out to qualified persons. It is my way of trying to provide for those less fortunate and to honor those that gave their all for our country. Here in Jacksonville, NC, the home of Camp Lejeune, it will be a really big deal as it should be!
