To Increase your Appreciation of Your Shield

Good points.

I'm am mostly responding to annoyance of some of the silly posts on Beretta forums.

I personally bought my nano recently, and its been fine. So far its the autoloading j frame of my dreams :D

The shield was a bit big to pocket carry for me. Ymmv, I suppose.

600 rounds down range so far, 2 fte in the first 50.

StuperDan:

Thanks for the feedback.

I am pleased you are enjoying your Nano. It is a very well made gun and I did not want to send her packing but Cabela's offered a trade straight across for my Shield and after 5 1/2 months and 11 FTEs and no drop in the failure rate I couldn't pass up the offer.

If you are having difficulty pocket packing the Nano the Shield will definitely not work in your pocket.

P.S. I have been called out on the Beretta Forum as one of the "silly posters." Oh well, I look at these gun forums as great opportunities to learn soemthng new and if you are not learning what is the point of spending the time on these forums. I could be doing something much more productive like weeding the garden.

Just like their girls... They go for the ugly easy to pick up ones. I went with this beauty that was harder to find. What a keeper! :P

The Shield 9mm & .40 share the same platform. I am sure they use the same recoil spring. My 9mm ejects the case about 5' the .40 throws them 15'. The slide will interchange between frames. The barrel from the .40 will not fit in the 9mm slide.

I personally like the Glock type trigger better than the trigger in the Nano. I don't like the long DA revolver type trigger in the Nano.

I don't know how people can say the Nano is a Glock clone. The Nano trigger is nothing like the Glock, it is almost identical to the Kahr.

With the Apex DCAEK kit installed the trigger on the Shield it is smooth, short, crisp 5#, with a very short reset. Much better than the Nano.

I can also tell that the finish on the Shield slide is more durable, The Nano had wear on the slide in a couple of weeks from the holster. No wear on the Shield and It is in same type and material holster.LaTour Custom Holsters - Outdoor Gear/Sporting Goods - Plainfield, CT | Facebook

Lastly the recoil of the Shield 9mm is less then the recoil of the Nano 9mm.

So overall I will take the Shield over the Nano hands down even if it is slightly larger.

I agree with everything said here. With my work, iwb carry is not possible. I am stuck with pocket carry, and in that size frame, I like the nano.

The trigger is really long. I hope there is some sort of trigger mod for it soon. As for the 40 barrel, I probably won't buy it if it comes out.

I probably enjoy it so much because I am comparing it to the 442 I've been carrying and shooting for a year.

That is the same as the M&PC.

Does the Shield 9 barrel work in the Shield 40? I have heard it does.

If so, I would get the 40 and a 9mm barrel to have the capability to shoot both calibers.

A .357 Sig barrel would be a nice addition also! (hint, hint)

I bought the Beretta Neo when they came out, it was cheap and felt good in my hand. Shot horrible though, I had to adjust the rear sight to ome side to hit at POA. I hate looking down a barrel that the sights make it look crooked. I sold the Neo and I will never buy a Beretta again. I just purchased the Shield, haven't received it but I think they look really good, if it functions half as good as my BG380 which I really love it will be another of my Smiths that are all totally reliable and great weapons.

The 9mm barrel does drop in to the .40 slide, but it is a little sloppy on the back of the barrel where the loaded chamber inspection hole protrusion is. That is where the .40 barrel won't fit in the in the 9mm slide.

The trigger is very different on the Shield more like a glock trigger. Not a long double action pull.

I have the BG.380 and I will say the Shield performs better, less recoil, better trigger for sure and just as reliable.
