Who has "strayed" the furthest?

How much modification have you done?

I am kinda surprised by the way the numbers are working out, but as I reflect I should have expected these, although I feel better knowing there are more serious addicts out there....LOL

I think in my case I should have stopped adding stuff and just bought another gun. Witch I plan on doing. Im going to limit the up grades to just a scope, trigger, tube hg, bipod and low profile gas block.

I am actually good i think....:D

After my shooting yesterday.. pretty happy with all 3 Of my AR setups...

Still thinking about EoTech holo... but Im gunna concentrate on reloading..
just spent $700 on Bulk STUFFS for that....

It is a Never ending Battle for sure

LOL

I guess that's still alot...

You know, build it the way you want, it will serve you the best when it is what you want. In the old days, we used to buy Mag Wheels and Headers and Mufflers, High Rise Manifolds, Big Carbs, High perfomance Ignitions, Fat tires, Paint jobs. When I was growing up gas was cheap and horsepower was fun. Now Gas is more than ammo and although I still modify cars, parts are outrageous and fines are really expensive and so is insurance. So as people with families, we still want our toys and these are just as fun as horsepower. I am building another one, it will take awhile because I blew my fun money on my first one. I also dont have a clue what I want it to do, right now I am building it as a close quarters rifle because my CyberSport is anything but that. If you dont make it what you want, you will end up changing it and you may end up changing it anyway.:D:D:D

Here's my Sport as of this week!!!!!! Here's the list of what I've done/added/changed, etc.

MIRail2-2.jpg

Magpul MOE furniture
MI 2 Piece Free Float Handguard
Daniel Defense Clamp On Low Profile Gas Block
Magpul Gen 2 Flip Up Rear Sight
Magpul Gen 2 Flip Up Front Sight
YHM Flip Up/Gas Block Front Sight
Timney 4 lb Trigger Assembly
Vortex Flash Hider
Gunfighter Charging Handle
Impact Weapons QD Sling Hardware
Primary Arms M3 Style Red Dot Sight
Primary Arms M4 Style Red Dot Sight
Bushnell 4-12X40 Scope (from a previous AR)
Burris PEPR 1" scope mount
Enidine Hydraulic Recoil Buffer
2 doz Pmags split between 30 and 20 rounders
6 Colt GI mags
2 point sling with QD swivels
CMMG 22 conversion kit
5 22LR mags for conversion kit

And then there is the 6k or so rounds of assorted 5.56/223 ammo to feed the beast and for my stockpile.

Gunfighter please let me know about the Enidine Hydraulic buffer, have often wondered about those and how helpful they might be on a follow up shot.

Let's see...
  • Replaced OEM stock with Magpul CTR
  • Replaced stock pistol grip with an Ergo
  • Replaced the handguard twice. First with a MOE then free-floated with an Apex extended carbine.
  • Polished the stock trigger then replaced it with a Geissele SSA trigger
  • Added cheap extended charging handle latch
  • Replaced MBUS with Matech
  • Replaced front sight post with a crosshair
  • Rotated optics from a Nikon M-223 2-8x to a Simmons 44 Mag 6-21x to a Bushnell 6-24x...all on a Burris PEPR QD mount
  • Added Mako magwell grip

I think that about does it. I still have the stock upper and lower so have not done anything totally radical. :)

There is a slight softening of the recoil impulse, but it's not a great change. A different weight buffer than the stock buffer would probably make a bigger change for less $$. But I wanted to try it out just to see what difference it would make. Curiosity lightens my wallet at times. This was one of them.

It doesn't do anything bad so I'll leave in the Sport until it fails, then try a different weight buffer. In a heavier recoiling rifle, 308 or bigger, it might make a good deal of difference. Don't have any experience with the bigger bores.

Thanks Gunfighter...I wanted to try one, went with a heavier buffer for cheaper $$$$ and it works great, also softened the blow somewhat.

Bill that is still a darned good lookin gun!!!

the votes are slow but they are still comin!!

Thanks, Grover. Unfortunately, my new Bushnell 6-24x scope is too long to keep both the PEPR mount and the Matech rear sight. And since an A2 front sight is worthless without a rear sight, the scope is now sitting in some UTG QD rings on a riser. haha

Bill....That sucks...sorry. Someday you might have to give up the front sight but that would suck also your rifle looks so good in its present config.

Never! haha.

But someday, when I decide to buy a bolt action rifle, I'll move the Banner to it and buy the Sport a shorter 6-24x scope. :D

Yeah I have that Barska on my 308 Mauser and it is fine from a bench rest position but as we were discussing it is coming off and another Bushnell 6-24x50 (I already have) is almost on it....I hate chasing the sight picture and you cant always shoot off of a bench.

I don't really see an option for me. I have an entirely new fire control group, a new handgaurd, sling, magazine, rings & scope. I'd consider that to be relatively minor changes outside, more significant change to inside. I went with "very visible, changes inside and out". But compared to some folks they aren't that "visible".

On my FT I put an ACOG TA31F, Magpul RVG, BCM bcg, H buffer and spring, and a Gunfighter handle. Also an ERGO Deluxe grip.
