I made a big mistake by selling all my Glocks and buying M&P's

I've been a Glock man for 20 years, never had a problem with a new Glock. Recently bought 3 M&P's in 2 months, and 2 of the three were bad. One went back to S&W for repair, the other, a 40 Shield I'm selling and hoping to recover most of the money I wasted on an inferior product.

I was really hoping I could find an American product that would match Glocks reputation. It sure isn't S&W M&P's.

I am not asking for sympathy, just wondering why S&W can't put a product on the market that will compete with Glock and be reliable.

I was wanting to use the 40 Shield for EDC. It isn't reliable so I can't count on it.

Well I dont blame you about the Shield 40. I assume you are having the magazine drop problem? S&W should steps up better than they are. All I can say is I have the 9mm Shield and its one hell of a gun. Nothing is perfect even Glock has its fair share of problems plus they dont listen to their customers, but that is another story. Something drew you towards the M&P line and I would recommend not giving up until you actually get a good piece. I would recommend unloading the 40 Shield and going with the 9mm. You will not be disapointed.

How many Glocks did you sell off to get the M&Ps? I would have bought one M&P and kept it for a while to see if I liked it rather than getting rid of all of the guns I liked and trusted to switch to a new platform. My 2 cents worth.

Maybe I will try the 9mm Shield. I'm guessing the Shield 9 doesn't have the problems the 40 Shield has.

The only reason I'd consider an M&P over a Glock is for the frame mounted safety, which most people don't want.

I get by nicely with 9mm Glocks, Wilson Combat Govt pattern 1911's, and post war 5 screw S&W revolvers for the most part. I still don't own a mouse gun, or 9mm smaller than a Glock 26.

To each his own.

What was the repair and how is it now?

What's wrong with the shield?

And I'm glad to hear the 3rd one's working out.

I like the 3rd gens but bought an M&P40 when they first came out and have never had a problem. The number one reason I prefer the M&P is that I do not have to fire it to disassemble it.

Nope! I have over 800 rounds through my 9mm without a single hicup. I will say pleanty of users have Shield 40 without problems too. There seam to be jsut as many 40 users with problems though.

My M&P 40 Pro Series had spots on the slide that were not finished properly. S&W fixed that. I put an Apex competion trigger kit in it, and it is fine now.

The Shield 40 drops the mag, with the extended mag.

My 40c I've never had a problem with.

I've never had a problem with having to pull the trigger on a Glock to disassemble it. Just have to make sure it's empty before pulling the trigger.

Humm, this is a first I've heard of the M&P problems. Is there any problems with the full size 45? I took it out right after I got it and it seemed to shoot fine.

I believe the M&P problems are mostly with the Shield 40.
