I really like my M&P22. I almost got a Browning Buckmark, which i am sure is a bit more accurate, but I hate the look of the Rugers and Brownings. I'm not a target shooter. Got the M&P22 for fun, and it sure is! Rear sights suck. Hard to pick up. I painted the rear sight white so it's like a Glock outline sight. when they finally come out with adjustable rear sights made for the M&P22, I'll be buying one.
What I find very odd is people saying "the M&P is fun, but it's nowhere near as accurate as my Mark III or Buckmark". That may be so, but if you go over to the M&P 15-22 forum, there's a post on there asking for opinions of whether to buy the Ruger 10/22 or the M&P 15-22. Overwhelmingly, posters responded with "my 10/22 sits in the safe now that I bought my 15-22.". Funny how accuracy is prized when it comes to handguns, but not so much when it comes to rifles. I know I stick pencils in the dirt and shoot the erasers off with my 10/22 at 50 yards, and that's with bulk Walmart ammo.
