I ordered a M&P9 and now I read about all the accuracy issues. Wonderful!

Were it so simple...

In the case of the FS9, there are too many experienced shooters posting here

It ain't the Indian...

As I said it's been my experience, however you bring up very valid points in regards to some weapons shooting well and others not so much.

I stand corrected, thank you sir.

S&W M&P FS 9/357/40/45, 40PRO, 40C, 22LR

Mine has been dead on accurate. Everyone who has shot mine wants to buy a Shield.

Solved my accuracy problem with M&P 9m FS....I'm shooting my glock and 1911's and selling the S&W piece of junk. Oh, and still shooting my Sig too! Sorry s&w, you blew it on this one. Never More!!!
End of Story.

C ya!!! By the way, what do ya want for the *** M&P, I'd be interested..

If I had 'the inaccurate M&P', I'd think again, and look into a match barrel. If you sell the gun, you ARE out at least $100+. You can likely get a SL barrel for under $200 - right? Then you have a tack driver, and good platform that you MUST HAVE purchased because of the ergos, parts, etc.

SURE - SW should make a FS 9 as accurate as a 5904 or Compact MP.

But... given the circumstances , an aftermarket barrel may make sense.

Regrettably, there are some WIERD circumstances out there today. Glocks that stovepipe and Smiths that are inaccurate. Who could have dreamt such a thing!

I am in a bit of a dilemma as I want a FS 9mm poly gun. Glocks CAN be hit or miss now, and the MP MAY have an accuracy issue. Some counsel to drop both and go PPQ. It is a fine gun, very accurate, and no systematic issues I've heard of, but:

Support is limited, and MAY stay that way relative to Glock and SW, and I really don't like the LONGISH slide release on both sides.

So... as I can nail a MP 9 for a steal, I may just risk the barrel issue. I may rely on picking one with a seemingly tight barrel lockup, and go for it.

Just make sure it's a recent production. Mine is June 2012 and it deadly accurate. After I got mine 3 friends have drank the koolaid and thier are all perfect aswell. I would not hesitate to pick up another recent production gun I honestly do believe the inaccurate issue is not nearly as wide spread as those that have a vested interest in a soultion would have you believe.

Sgt Kramer:

How does the barrel feel in the slide on these new guns? All tight? I've picked up a new one in a LGS and the barrel felt pretty loose compared to my Glock. One at a Gander Mountain some miles away felt good and tight.

I bought a 40SW for home defense and replaced the barrel with a 9 mm threaded barrel and 9 mm mags. 3 to 4 inch accuracy at 30 feet. No feeding problems. Now I have the option of eather
caliber.

Lock up on all new ones I have encountered have been very tight. I noticed trigger on new ones seem alot better too and they have crome looking sears. Not black ones of yester year.

Thanks, but let me clarify. Does the barrel in the slide feel tight when the slide/barrel are OFF the frame? I am hoping this is the definitive test of the S MP 9mm accuracy at least for an inspection. Thanks again.

Yes extreamly tight. I wish I had a video to show how tight mine is even after 2600 rounds as I shoot about 4-5 days a week. Only movement of any size is between slide and frame but it's not horrible or anything. Even without the spring in place it's very tight and will only move the direction to take it out. My mind boggles when I real about the acuraccy issue with these pistols but I really think they fixed it on the low down. Seems like it was a minimal problem to begin with on just random guns.

I didn't have a grouping problem, and as a former marine I feel it is an operator headspace error, But my front sight dot keeps falling out. Had it for a month and they had it for 2 1/2 weeks. Second time firing in a competition it fell out again. I like the pistol not the front sight, or S&W ability to put them on.

I just ordered a M&P9 from my LGS. Now I read about all the accuracy issues. Hopefully my gun won't have them. Really how prevalent are they?
How many here have had to deal with them?

Thanks!
I didn't have grouping issues, I had Front sight dot falling out issues. Sent the pistol back and after 2 1/2 weeks I call and told they are on shutdown. I asked to have it sent back I would pay to have it repaired myself. 500 rounds in I liked the pistol. They sent it back fixed… Second time firing way a competition and the dot fell out again. I would guess grouping problems are operator headspace errors, but front sight problems are a manufacture or design issue

Clean it with real good remover any oil and order some glow on or your fav color model paint with a tooth pick and fill it yourself. Done! You can mail me a 20 now :D

I have all the older M&P FS 9's (FS,FS-L and FS-PRO). ALL tack drivers out of the case and all extremely tight (like yours) when I bought them. Still bench 2-3" at 25 yards. I'm thinking S&W might have done a re-tooling between then and now and that acuraccy problem is from pre re-tooling when tolerances started reaching there "over/under" spec's.

Just a thought.

I haven't been around much, but I thought I would say something for what its worth. I contacted S&W by phone and email (after speaking with them, I wouldn't hesitate buying a new one). To make a long story short, I sent an email in with links attached. I will start a thread with their reply when I get it (I was told they would look at it and give me a reply).
