Over the years I have owned more than 30 model 39's mostly model 39-2
althoughI have had 4 different, new in the box model 39's in the steel frame version. These I should have kept as I noticed one for sale yesterday for $3500.00 and it wasn't new in the box. I have never owned any of the 3900 series but do have a Model 639 coming next week. I have been waiting for one with the fixed sight as I cannot see myself with an ajustable sight, they really turn me off, the wings that is. I am interested in your views regarding the 3906 etc.

39 no dash is 2nd only to my BHP..but a very close 2nd. I have 3rd gens that just aren't as nice as the wood gripped 39. They shoot as good just don't feel as good.

I'm squarely in the Model 39 no dash camp.

I ignore the noise about "fragile" extractors, and just enjoy the heck out of shooting the pistol that started the whole line that we love.

It's still the most accurate of the all the 4" 9mm guns, which I attribute to the early barrel rifling configuration.

The model 39 no dash, it's a beautiful pistol, and the reason I have the addiction:-)

That's like asking which jelly bean is your favorite! In this case - the one that is in my hand. I like the dog ears or wings on the adj. sites. I have the 439 right now but love the 539 as it is all steel. Not that big of a fan on the newer models after that. What I do like is all these models can be had for under $400 dollars.

I have owned several 39-2's. This and BHP's fit my hand better than any other handgun I have held. However, I traded my last two 39-2 pistols off for a 3953. The stainless steel parts, compact size, no safety design make it a fine carry gun.

I looked at that all steel on GB. I do have a question on that gun and as you have had 4 you might be able to help. The & on the slide is the upright current style and not the "lazy &" style. The address has the "lazy &" in it thou. What do you think.

That's one of the things that you'll find that doesn't follow a particular pattern, I have model 39s made in the same year where one has the "lazy ampersand" on the the large roll mark, but not on the address, and the other has neither, then on a 39-2 just one year newer, it has it on the address only.......this has been explained due to Smith&Wesson not "rotating" their parts stock as guns are built, so you will find early features on later, documented "non transitional" pistols, as well as ones that have all the newer features.....there really is no rhyme or reason to it, and it applies to just about all S&W's from what i've seen.....

I wish I could remember, but I don't.
Thanks for your contribution.

I like ALL 39s wouldn't walk away from any of them but out of the bunch the 639 is my fav. Got to love stainless I can de-horn the beast and not worry about the finish. I can make it shine or I can dull it, I can even remove that 80s fashion finger hook from the trigger guard of a 4 digit if I want and then just clean it up. That little bit of extra weight just sucks up recoil a bit better. If I want a light gun I'll just use a G19 or 26 perhaps my 360PD.:D

These were mine until sold a couple years ago. Great little pistols. Having said that, the 3906 with Novak Rears was a lot better pistol for me. There is something magic about that gun. More refined than the first 39 Series and not nearly as practical as the 3913, just a awesome pistol with Style and weight that made it very special....I'm sorry they're gone, and I must admit being a HUGE fan of the Squared Trigger guard....There's something for everybody at S&W.....:)

Great brace of pistols there. I have never made a dime selling a gun, in fact most times I got a third of what I paid so now I just keep them. Most of what I have I like but there are a few "what was I thinking" with them. Hey, what do you think the gun pusher will give me for a P99c in trade for a Colt pocketlite .380 .:D

Really nice jeweled chambers on those twin 3913s, what caused you to sell them?

Sold nearly everything off when I thought I was dying....Realized I has no one but strangers to sell them too, so I did......They went to good homes. :) That's all that counts.....JP Maybe the good treatment will come back to me.....no promises, just hopes.......

3913 - easy to carry, easy to shoot. Accurate and reliable.
