Muscle Car Madness

Back in the day (for me, the day was the late '70s) I had several hot rods but my favorite was this '67 Plymouth GTX. It had a 440 Super Commando rated at 375hp/490lbs torque and a 727 torquflite auto.

I've been looking for a 67 GTX since....well 67 :D

I bought that car from a used car dealer in San Jose, CA in May of 1979, just before my 18th birthday. The price was $1400. It had something like 43,000 miles on it and was all original except for the chrome reverse wheels and baby moons. I sold it to a friend a couple of years later and it was totaled when an old woman ran a red light and t-boned him. It was a helluva car while it lasted.

For those of you who are interested, here is how the Scout turned out.

That is a very nice cornbinder you have there. I have always liked the Scout 2 Platform. Did you swap out the engine?

Bob R, both vehicles belong to my son. He is big into cars. I don't have the capabilities or the interest he does. I stayed in touch on the Scamp because my mother gave it to us for transportation in 1994. It wouldn't run, stuck valves, at the time. My son and I worked on it with advise from friends. He and his sisters drove it to school. I gave it to him because he was the only one that could keep it running. I think that spawned his interest in cars. He parlayed that into a degree in mechanical engineering and now works for Roush/Fenway Racing as the team engineer for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the Nationwide Series.

I think I heard him say that he replaced the original Scout engine with a larger one, but I am not sure of the details. Only thing I know for sure is I get a motion sickness riding in that thing.

My 50th birthday present to myself ordered in Nov of 04, picked up April 1, 2005. Fast enough for me. One of the first retro GT Mustangs to hit Memphis back in 05. The only year it came in mineral gray metallic.

You new Camaro and Challenger drivers owe this model a lot. They never would have made them if the retro Mustang didn't sell bigtime.

As a fromer Mercedes-Benz employee I drove alot of nice cars... but I cannot afford them for my private motorpool.

So we got a Fusion and a Ram. But I really would like to go fast forward and get the idea which is stuck in my head finally on the road... MAKO1

That's a cool concept..

Because Diesel sucks. It's big, heavy and dirty...

Way more torque, more fuel efficient, and the Diesel can be made clean and light which is the same as being smaller.
And if one is worried about big, heavy and dirty, I'm guessing electric is the way to go?

This thing will pass everything except the gas station! And has to have Supreme gas, but I still love it!

You don't call a '69 Camaro ugly... ;)

in that color I do

When I bought it from the 83 year old original owner it had no trim, dog dish hubcaps, and hadn't been buffed and waxed in 20 years. :o

I did disc fronts, correct Rally wheels, dual exhaust, correct Quadrajet and cast iron intake, Duntov factory cam, and kept everything appearing original and bone stock.

307 was never gonna pull, so I sold it rather than hotrod it. :(

Sweet. I had a '78 TA myself for some years, it wasn't as nicely optioned as yours but it was that pretty red/orange color from that year. Loved that car. I don't remember premium gas, but I didn't have that engine/transmission combo either.
