629 Lets see YOURS

It shoots very well. I like the 2X scope. I have a Ruger Redhawk topped with a 4X Leupold. I much prefer the lower magnification.

This 629-3 Classic just joined the collection a bit ago. I bought it as shown and have ordered the regular rear sight from S&W this morning. Longest barrel .44 I've ever owned so should be interesting. Had about 50 rounds through it before I bought it and is very tight with an excellent trigger.

Engraved 629

I hope you don't mind my question.

Please give me your opinions on a engraved 629-3 6". The gun is new never been fired and engraved on the right side "Thanks for 25 years service + "the man's name". The normal logo stamp is not there and the engraving is kinda script and well done. The pictures of the gun show it to be mint. Box and papers are included.

Does the engraving add or subtract value? Any ball park estimates of value. Thanks for any comments.

I think if the logo is on the left, then it was made to be engraved.
your talking about, a near new 6", -3 with all the fixings, its in the 6-7 hundred range, I would look at it like this, but minus the cost of fitting a new side plate which would probably be north of 250,
If the "engraving " could not be erased like this, than I would pass, the gun would still be a great shooter... but...

I just joined the ranks of 629 owners a little while ago. This one was languishing on the bottom shelf at a LGS for a few months. It was priced a bit high and the owner was not willing to come down to something a bit more reasonable price-wise. I happened to be in the store when he walks in and announces that he was lowering the price in order to move it.

Well, the new price was lower than what I had offered him so as soon as he left, I bought it. :D

This is the explanation to the seller when he bought the gun.

"I bought your 629 directly from Tom Goraj, he is an old friend. He never fired any of the guns he bought or was presented from S&W. He's just not a shooter, he was marketing director when he retired.' Now some pics. So who is Tom Goraj?
