Hi all,
I've just purchased a 15-22 and love it. I'm looking at scopes and have read just about every thread and posting via search for the past 2 days.
I'm considering the following scopes and would like your input.
Thank you...especially considering how often these questions are raised.
Nikon Pro Staff 3x9-40 at $149 at Dicks
Buschnell Banner 3x9-40 at $89 also at Dicks
BSA Sweet 22 3x9-40 for $60 at Dicks with rings
Center Point 3x9-32 for $60 at Dicks with rings
The prices at opticalplanet are similar and they are all in stock at Dicks. Gander has some in stock at similar prices.

I tried the Nikon and Buschnell at Dicks and they both seemed quite nice giving the nod to the Nikon for perhaps a bit more sharpness in clarity at 9x focused as far as possible.
I was not able to look at the other 2 as they were in clam shells.

I do have a Center Point 3x9-40 on my wife's Ruger 10-22 and it is a very nice scope. I bought it at a local gun show. I'd buy another but can't find the persons business card I bought it from and don't want to wait until next August.

I typically shoot at our local ranges from 50 to 100 yards at paper targets. I've used the iron sights and while quite nice for close in shooting I have to guess where the rings are and hope for the best...which is pretty good...great gun...but I'd like to see the rings hehehe...eyes at 57 years aren't what they were a few decades ago and my arms are getting shorter too.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

The eyes don't have it!

Hi all,

I'm saddened to tell you, they won't improve... but hey! I can still shoot to my heart's content at going on 70!!

I am in the same dilemna, looking for a scope for my new 15-22 and don't know what to get. Let us know how your scope works out, whichever one you choose. I too will be shooting out to 100 yards at paper targets.

You can find those center points at walmart

I put the C-P 2-7 from wal-mart on mine & no problems so far, the green/red reticule comes in handy on diff targets. I figured I'd give it a try for $70, it's only on a .22 so maybe it'll hold up for awhile

I just got this today, pretty good deal , very nice scope too for the $$$ , IMO ( Midway is having a deal )

Center Point Adventure Class Rifle Scope 3-9x 40mm Dual Illuminated

FYI: I bought this as a Black Friday special and the price was $39.00 no tax and free shipping so I think I got an awesome deal ( It was in affect as of yesterday Monday 11/26 )

If your going to use a scope of any sort?
Do your self a favor and learn about parallax .
Google the term if you have to and read all about it.
Cause there is nothing like a scope that has parallax that will turn your nice shooting gun into a inaccurate bullet sprayer.

I've downloaded and read reviews and info on the 4 scopes I'm considering. The reviews are very similar regarding how many liked and disliked each of the scopes.
I'm going to pull the trigger on the Center Point based on how much I like the one I currently have and the price. If I don't like it I will return it.

Thanks for the input everyone. It is much appreciated.

Well a bit of a change of plans.
I bought the Center Point and after having it at home for half an hour I knew it was nothing like my first Center Fire...I did not like the optics at all...the focus was not as crisp. I returned it and decided to take a look at what Gander Mtn had to offer.

I, again, checked out the Nikon Pro Staff and the BSA Sweet Spot 22. They were both nice with the nod to the Nikon but I was not sold. Looking at the scopes on the stocks I noticed a Redfield on sale for $130, $30 off. It is the Revenge 3-9x42 model. Checking it out I loved the clear, crisp image, good feel of the power ring and focus ring, light weight and relatively short length...compared to some.

I wound up buying it along with a rail and rings. I spent more than I wanted/expected but quality is quality and it does cost...I knew if I bought an inexpensive scope I was going to regret it a month from now.

I'm hoping to sight it in in the next few days and will start a new thread with my experiences.

Again thanks all for you help...it is appreciated.

My choice would be the Nikon 3 - 9x40 When it comes to optics Nikon is hard to beat also that scope has the BDC which is really neat.
So does the BSA Sweet 22 for $60. Nikons are not great scopes but they perform well and don't break. They are not $2000 Night Force, Zeiss, or Swarovski either.
With my 65 YO eyes, when shooting .22/.223 out at 100 yards I find I like to have more than 9x. I like either a 3-12x or a tactical 4-14x. 10x is enough to engage targets at 300 yards with a .223 but seeing hits is not too easy unless the targets are reactive steel. But I am training myself to use a 1-6x right now (3-gun) but may move higher like a 2.5-10x or one of the higher priced 3-15x. I find I can shoot on the move with around 3x if the scope has enough eye relief. Then I just use my offset iron sights for close in work.
