Went to the range today with my M&P 40 and after like 30 rds I see some small black piece flying from my pistol. Looked like a small piece of plastic, I thought a piece of frame chipped off  So cleared the pistol for inspection tried to lock the slide back and whoops - no slide stop "ear" on the left side :( Does S&W send parts or they require pistol sent to them for repairs ? I'd rather just order part and install it myself instead of dealing with shipping it.

They will do either one, that is you either send them the gun and they will fix it and anything else they might discover or send you the part but it is a part of an assembly if you look on the right side of the gun there is a slide stop there as well.

I am still waiting for my mailer to send it back to them bad thing is I would like to retain the barrel and use it in my 40 full size but what the heck I'll be working the next few weeks 7 days a week and will not have time to fool with my guns or even time to shoot them!

You should call thet most probably will send it to you.
Their costumer service is really great.

Contacted CS and rep told me he can't find the part required in stock so they're sending me a shipping label. Now I have to drive to the hub, oh well...
