or those contemplating doing it

I only wish I'd started sooner.

Apart from the economics, I'm finding it to be relaxing, interesting, mentally challenging, and kind of "renewing".

And, of course, with the instability in the ammo market, it's quietly reassuring when I see the boxes of loaded ammo begin to stack up.

No better time than now to start!

I agree

Doc
I feel exactly the same way. I always had more active hobbies, like skiing, scuba diving, etc. but I found this to be more of a craft and it sure beats busting knuckles under the hood of a car.

Not only do you get to assemble custom ammo - YOU GET TO SHOOT IT TOO!!!!!!!!!

Completely agree with you, Doc. I've started my reloading recently, yes I've invested a lot (went blue) but it feels so good after looking at empty shelves come home and crank few hundred rounds :)

My dad was an avid caster and reloader and I learned the art from him when I was a teenager. There is a great satisfaction that comes from knowing you're shooting rounds that you built with your own hand. I think handloading makes one appreciate the sport of shooting even more. Maybe you will consider casting your own bullets at some point. For me, casting is just as much of an enjoyment as reloading and I get to tailor the bullet for exactly what I need.

hehe....already been watching Youtube vids of bullet casting

I want to join the club of re-loaders just not possible right now. I have wanted to start since I got my first gun 2 years ago. Seems like every time I plan to something comes up that stops me.

I agree 100%! I enjoy reloading almost as much as shooting. My favorite time to reload is after the kids go to bed and I can head to my man cave. As mentioned above, reloading really is a craft.

With me reloading turned the whole shooting thing around. Now when there are no more empty cases I say to myself 'darn, now I have to go shooting some'
I am equally concerned with where the casing landed as to where the bullet hit.

Amen to starting sooner. Reloading is very addictive and mentally stimulating. I moved my reloading gear into the tv room so my wife would quit complaining about me not being around

I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the help, and, sometimes, well-intentioned scoldings I've gotten from the veteran reloaders on this Forum.

The internet may be a lot of things, but it's definitely a valuable resource for helpful information.

Thanks to those here who've cared enough to take the time and offer advice and warnings to those of us new to reloading!

Doc;

That reloading desk is almost perfect...........but I don't see a hammer ?? !! :D:D:D

I always tell people, start at your own rish . It can be habit forming.

"Rolled in the USA" !!! Got to love it.

Just outside the picture, both the SAE and the Metric ball peens. ;)

I'll second that.:)

I'm on board. Something enjoyable to do while the wife worries about who 'the bachelorette' is going to send home. I am happy in the garage making good ammo and I even get points for giving the TV remote to her.
You know you're doing well when your buddies want to trade their store-bought ammo for your home-made.

Dear doc540. There are indeed metric hammers. DIN standard. Weight indicated on the head. DIN standard handles by weight, or in other words, any 200 gram hammer head takes any 200 gram handle. Precise DIN fit.
I'm a retired Mercedes mechanic.
