Today's gunshow - it was a zoo

gun shows in So. Cal

Hey we gotta great show coming up end of January! So if you want scented candles, creepy jewelry, and TONS AND TONS OF CHINESE MADE SCOPES AND ACCESSORIES! Well c'mon down.

Ammo prices are skyhigh too! Gougers will charge as much as they can, and lemmings will line up for HOURS to buy the JUNK.

As the missed and respected General Schwarzkopf would say,

"THAT GENTLEMEN IS BOVINE SCATOLOGY!"

Find and remember the long term dealers/gunsmiths/ranges who treat you well all the time and spend your money there.

Do everything you can to buy USA and when you cant, ask with firm respect to try to get USA made product in stores.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Okla. City gun show

I was at the Metcalf gun show yesterday in Okla. City, $13. a pop & line streached around the building on both the front and back doors.

The Best thing that I saw was people lined up 3 deep to join the NRA at their tables at the entrances.:-). It lasted all morning, and that was just at the front door.

The EBR tables were selling a lot early on, but they still had guns left on their tables at days end. Lots of guys walking around with 'for sale' signs on their AR clones. I didn't see any Colt ARs for sale though. I think the 'black gun panic' may be subsiding.

I was hopeing that maybe some of these guys would be selling some "good guns" to buy the EBRs. Now I'm beginning to believe they never had any. Must be spending the rent/house payments. I can't believe that there is that much disposable income out there.

Ammo guys looked like the only thing they will be carrying home will be money. One ammo guy that takes a whole island only had a few .40 cals and a few milsup misc. calibers left by the end of the show. If he doesn't have a warehouse to restock from, he wont have much to do today. He sold out of 5.56 mm 1K packs for $1K ea.........One dollar a round1!!!....in bulk.

Why go to a Gun Show when you know that the Prices of even BB Guns and BBs will be out of sight???

Not me.

I've even seen the price of Revolvers go up a hundred dollars around here. Amazing.

Rule 303

There's one near me in two weeks. I was looking forward to it, but I think I'm skipping it. Why pay 15 bucks to stand in line for an hour only to walk around and see horribly overpriced stuff?

Ok now where will the infamous RBURGs table at the Lexington show? My Daughter wants to go so maybe tommorrow is the day he finally shows up to a meet and greet.
I am going to be there when it opens up, Daughter in tow or maybe she is gonna tow me around. We will wait and see.

OK, newbie question here/ I have never been to a gun show and I do not own my first gun yet....money and bills, and such. I tried to go with my step dad over the years when I was still living at home but he would never let me own a gun "his house his rules" so he never took me. My newbie question is this....for a person trying to buy there first concealed carry handgun....would a gun show make a big different in price and selection over the local gun shop? I really do not know the different models of different brands well enough to just see a gun and know what make and model it is. LOL :)

For the 5$ entry fee and free parking, even if I don't plan on buying, selling or trading anything, a gun show is a half days worth of cheap entertainment. I can't get into a stupid movie for the price of a gun show. There are all sorts of wierd and wonderful critters at the shows.

Exactly. Over here in PA, it has been fun to go and watch the drama and actions of some. It is cheap entertainment and actually fun!

I would have to say NO. The reason is that when you go to a local person they will give you the time and training with the gun. I have also say that the shows are much higher priced than the LGS. Now in a few years from now and a lot of knowledge under your belt then yes. But not on the first gun.

Thanks for the help on that. Wait a sec...I always thought the prices at gun show were sapose to be good and cheap thus that is why people go, am I misinformed?

OK, we went to today's gun show. It was an interesting mess. I've never seen that many attend a Lexington show. To the promoters credit, he did make the aisles wide. There were so many people they were still clogged up. And a lot of people just standing in the way and blocking traffic. The reloading vendor didn't even show up. Probably he was out of stock and didn't have any hope of restocking. They're always there.

We sold into they hysteria. One son brought along his stock of factory .223s just because he's finally realized its better to shoot his own handloads. I sold 2 handguns, a 629 and a M58. I still can't find a suitable case for my new shotgun. All I'm seeing are AR cases, some of those over $100!

rburg- don't know what sort of case you want for your 21,but a company called americase makes some very nice aluminum ones. they are used by a lot of the target shotgun types as they are secure and airline approved when you go to scotland to shoot grouse.

Can't wait for the one in Belleville next weekend! I'm bringing my own popcorn since their "kettle corn" gives me rot gut!
But I'm already hearing that a lot if nice old revolvers are starting to show up at various dealers though! Time to find a 681 or 67 or hopefully a 657!
But I'm mainly going to enjoy the show and watch the drama! Dale

For the first time in my life I am seeing people so afraid of their government that they feel the need to buy all the ammo that they can afford and all of the guns that they can afford. Some people are going into debt to buy weapons and ammo that they feel that they will need to protect themselves and their families from their government and what will remain of society when our government prints so much money that what we have left is worthless. I have seen ammo double in price recently if you can find it. I looked at a web site that had .223 available for almost $800 per 1000. A few months ago I saw it for $319 per 1000.

Louisiana Joe,

You got it on point.

I wonder what happens next,
if a very, very fearful public is
pushed farther.

I got a deal coming in you
wouldn't believe. I may not show
photos. Got to watch out for the
Gestapo...

I skipped the gun show madness.

I am buying from private sellers.
No FFL just bill of sale.

Keep in mind I have at least 3
firearms purchased through a FFL.

No more for now private only.

Hey Bob, same thing here in B'Ham. I left at 12:30 and there was still a long line waiting to get in. It wasn't this bad the first time "he" got elected.
I was just looking at some ARs priced at $2300 and a guy walks up and says "Oh my God, I just bought that rifle a month ago for $900".
The ammo and reloading guys were making a killing. And I'm sure the promoter had a big smile on his face.
I was really disappointed to see that the NRA was not set up at this show. Whenever I talked to someone I would bring up joining the NRA and letting our politicians know how we feel. It's the about all the hope we have and I'm afraid it's not going to be enough this time.
I hope common sense will win out but common sense ain't so common these days.

One thing to keep in mind is that many of the firearms sales in the past few weeks were to fence sitters who previous to Newtown didn't have any guns. This means we now have new votes on our side, so even though it's an inconvenience we need to welcome those newbies with open arms.

I just hope they do a little more than sit on their fence and hold their new gun.
If we all sit around and watch what happens we all lose.
