Reading these post makes me glad OGCA is not an open to public show. Though I expect next weeks show to have a larger then usual crowd.
I certainly didn't need a gunshow this weekend after what I bought yesterday. Jr. found a guy with some stuff and couldn't go because he was working. I went to see the man and came home with:
1) Mod 57 4" nickel P&R
2) Mod 14-3 8/38" blue
3) Mod 27-2 8 3/8" nickel
4) Mod 25-5 8 3/8" blue
All of them appeared unfired with slight turn rings. Some have tools and papers. Boxes are not correct even though the 25 & 27 came in the wood presentation boxes with replaced liners. I didn't pay gunshow prices either. I'm keeping the 57 & 14. I haven't decided about the others. Jr. and I are going back up there this afternoon to look at some other stuff. The guy raises several different varieties of pure bred chickens also which is a plus for us because we're almost ready for some new ones. Have you ever had two thousand chickens run up to you wanting something to eat? When we leave there we're gonna go hit the buffet at one of the casins on the coast. Another interesting day.
GUN SHOW - PURE INSANE 2.5 HOUR WAIT - MASSIVE LINE ( HIGH PRICES) COMPLETE HISTARIA
Dick, I seldom go to gun shows. Now since all this new gun law push I have read of outlandish prices on the "assult stuff and related stuff. But have you also seen prices also going up on the nice classic collector stuff or is that lagging?
When I go I look for the folks walking around with stuff. I'll wait for a dealer to lowball them and then offer a little more if it's something I want. Recently I decided to sit at the front door with one of the off duty deputies who tied the guns before they went in and talk to him while waiting on Jr. to come out of the show. A guy comes up with a real nice Victory and I bought it before he got the ties put on. A few minutes later a guy comes in with a nice Garand bayonet and I put it in the bag with the Victory. I soon realized I didn't have enough money with me to sit there much longer so I left after I bought the Ithaca riot gun. I may try this again sometime when I'm feeling rich.
I havent bought a gun at a show in over 26 years. I will go to talk to some friends and people watch. Cant wait to see if RBURG is real or just a figment. I took my Daughter last show in Lexington. Bought three books and just pretty much people watched. Showed my Daughter what I was looking for and she helped out. Stuff was out of my reach in the funds department. But hearing what she had to say about the people was awesome, almost like going to the mall. Still havent decided if we are going to the show next week or not because of all the crazies and stupid people out there.
.. We will never truly be able to confirm nor deny his existence.![]()

At the Louisville show maybe 5 or so years ago Lee bribed some good lookin' guy to say he was me. That was back when Lee was kind of human (before the transition to being a big monkey). I think the next show we'll recruit a half dozen guys to say they're me. Just for fun. Once about 30 years ago I even introduced a buddy's wife as my own. She put up with it at the time, then when my wife and the buddy showed up there was a lot of confusion.
