Former Police chief says 2nd amendment outdated

Who cares if he is a former police-chief. As if that gives his opinion extra clout or something. The vast majority of the rest of the country disagree with him. It is like when the media latches onto Mark Kelly for his opinion, as if he has extra knowledge. I'm sorry for what happened to his wife, but his opinion matters little to me. An astronaut does not a tactical ballistic expert make.

I respect him for his years of LE service, but I'm a former police chief with 42 years LE experience and I respectfully submit that this fellow is full of ****. Maybe he never took that oath with the part in it about supporting and defending the constitution?

I can top that! Rochester's ex-police chief is now the Lt. Gov. of NY and we all know how those wack-a-doddles feel about 2A. They didn't call for repeal, they just ignored it altogether.

After 25 years in the law enforcement business, and having worked under four Chiefs and with countless others, I learned that all Chiefs have opinions. They also have rear ends and I can say with certainty, opinion stink, and any deputy chief can tell you rear ends also stink.

Call me crazy, if you wish, but I believe Obama will form a Presidential Commission, before the end of his term, to 'investigate the pros and cons' of crafting a new, more modern Constitution that lays out government's 'responsibilities to its citizens'.

If you doubt this, look into Black Liberation Theology.

Our shot at preventing this passed by on November 6th.

FWIW, for many years former Seattle Chief Norm Stamper has been giving speeches at college campuses and other public institutions advocating legalizing all controlled substances: methamphetamines, LSD, heroin, cocaine crack, you name it, all of them.

And what other amendments does he consider "outdated"?
I like things just fine the way Mr. Jefferson,Madison,Monroe,Adams etc framed them...I don't think ANYONE in government now has 1/10 the brains of those gentleman...

International Association of Chiefs of Police have been anti 2nd amendment for many many years now.

From an article dated July 31 2012 in the Chicago Suntimes

This month, Police Chief magazine reprinted a letter from Chief Joseph M. Polisar, then head of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, originally published in 2004 as the assault weapons ban expired. Polisar vowed that the chiefs would continue to push for the ban, noting it had proved "remarkably effective in reducing the number of crimes involving assault weapons. Since
1994 the proportion of assault weapons traced to crimes has fallen by a dramatic 66 percent."

But politicians are more intimidated by the gun manufacturers and the National Rifle Association than they are moved by the police chiefs or by common sense. The result is that gun ownership is less well-policed than driving. There is no required training to own or use a gun, even an assault weapon. And as Holmes showed, in Colorado and many states, you can build an arsenal overnight capable of bringing down an airplane or shooting up a baseball crowd without any meaningful checks or accountability.

It is amazing to me how much the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th amendments seem to be in constant "flux"... It just seems wrong.

From what I've heard, Justice Ginsberg has already made a statement to the effect our Constitution shopuld be "re-modeled" after a South African version!

I have more respect for those who are openly calling for repeal than for those who say they embrace it while rejecting its historical context/meaning. The Constitution provides a pathway for adding/subtracting from the Bill of Rights. We've done that as a country numerous times. Sen. Rubio recently called out the President on his professed support for the 2A while acting in ways that many of us believe reject it. Good on the senator! Let's bring this all out into the light of day instead of backroom dealing and false claims of allegiance. I believe it will be healthier for the country. I also welcome a robust discussion on the historical context of the Bill of Rights in general and article 2 in particular.

Let Stamper put down his guns. And take a stroll through a bad part of Seattle after dark maybe someone he knows might recognize him.

Kelly really hacks me off. He got special treatment in the Navy as an astronaut, perks like that hack the rest of us who served.

Most police chiefs are political hacks, chosen by the Mayor for their willingness to routinely and vigorously kiss a--. They almost never support the street officers and promote the butt kissing desk jockeys ahead of the ones who take the risks. Many, many of them are anti CCW and anti gun. Don
