I had a 6 and 3. Decided to get rid pf the 6 and just keep the 3. I carry it in a Tucker.

I gotta hand it to you guys that carry .44 magnums on a daily basis. That's impressive!
Much as I appreciate and respect the caliber, I just can't bring myself to make even my 3" 629 a daily carry handgun for defense use.
I like to keep .44 mags handy when I'm in deeply rural areas, where large game/predators might be encountered, but other than that, my .44 mags are mostly safe queens.

its not to hard to do with the right leather and shirts. I carried a 4" 629 for years, with a wide stiff belt sinched down tight, 40+ ozs did make a long day longer, the first time I handled a 329 it was love at first sight
whats not to like, 26ozs and 44 magnum power in a weather resistant package. If you can put up with the recoil, you might want to try one of these

I love any thread dedicated to the 44 caliber. I own three 44 caliber guns although one is a lever action rifle. Here is my only Smith, a 629-6 PC, my first revolver. Grips are Ahrends Tactical in Cordia.
I haven't shot this guy as much as I'd like but I will hopefully remedy that soon enough. Plan to use this as my SD hiking/camping gun. Pretty heavy to carry on the waist though. Need to find a good shoulder type holster.
My other 44 is a Ruger Vaquero in 44 SPL. I'll post a pic of it later.

Another great photo, with the right rig (belt, holster and cartridge slide) you can be pretty comfortable, I like the leather from simply rugged, love your cordia stocks they look great, looking forward to your photos

My M629 Mountain "Revolver" NIB/unfired waiting for a new owner who can appreciate it...
The M629-4 Mountain "Gun" which I got to use as a backup when hunting wild pigs and to be a "camp gun' when camping/backpacking" (original reason I bought the 629-2 above) this gun has been shot and while a bit punishing, its very accurate and nice and lite for extended carry.

I'll have to get out my 629-4 4" magnaported from the factory to show off...bought it around my 21st birthday this year. It wears Hogue rubber grips, but I am thinking about getting some nice wood ones...

Grip/Stock for 629-3 R/S conversion.
Pachmayr Grip/Stock does not offer a model specific for N frame R/S conversion, only R or S. Does anybody know if either will fit the R/S conv? I am interested in the Gripper Pro model for smaller handed people.
My hand is thick and my fingers short so I'm incline to like the length of the LB design and the backstrap exposed for the short finger thing I got going on and I prefer the combat versions that offer me better stability/control.
I got a Hogue for it and it's awful. The R/L palm-swell size and placement is different and the combat finger groves slant downward from L to R. It feels better left handed and I am not. I couldn't tell you if it was a second or counterfit but for sure it's an awful piece and I need something different.
The origional wood grip is beautiful but my sausage fingers don't wrap around very well so comfort and control is lacking.
I understand the Houge for the 500 is a backstrap covering piece and has Sorbathane in it. How is it for short fingered perple?
Wood is pretty. Rubber seems more functional. Any insight offerings appreciated.

I got the Pachmayr Compac grips for my 629 and while I loved the feel of them, the covered backstrap made the trigger reach too long for my short fingers. I wish they made the Compac Professional grips for the 629 round butt since they do not cover the backstrap. I ended up with a great set of Ahrends Tactical round butt smooth grips and they fit just perfect for me and look amazing to boot. I haven't heard of anyone yet that didn't like Ahrend's grips. See them on my 629 PC in my post above.

Hey Irelander.......How is the middle finger nuckle rub on the lower portion of the trigger guard with that stock?

Presume your gun is a round butt. Agree that the Hogue grip is awful. I've thrown a bunch of them away.
Another possibility for small hands are "Magna" or "Service" stocks. Use as is or add a T-grip.
Here's a pair for N-frame round butt that forum member VM made:
Did you have the gun round butted or is it a factory round butt, pretty sure the rb pacs will fit either way unless it has been k butted, can you post a pic of the grip frame

I haven't done any long shooting sessions with this gun yet but I have not noticed any issues with middle finger knuckle rub. I do know what you are talking about though. I have issues with Glocks in this regard. The Ahrends Tactical grips are nicely rounded in this area and provide a very comfortable grip. Since your 629 has been converted from square to round butt you may need to call Ahrends directly and talk to him about it to see if he has anything that will work for you or if he can make something work for you. I assume he will work with you and get you something that you will be happy with.
