Just saw this. NOT GOOD. Every country that has enacted gun control that takes guns from the law abiding and arms the government, has seen mass executions of its citizens. Hitler comes to mind first. Call me paranoid, but these folks are getting scary....

Well, let's look at the gun control record shall we?

Is it possible that "government official" refers to police and military, and not ranking politicians, as the article implies in an attempt to inflame. The law has enough flaws without being misrepresented.

I highly doubt it. Since when is the military considered government officials and police. Local police have nothing to do with the government.

I don't know about anyone else but I am well past the point of giving a Politician the benefit of a doubt... in anything... jmo.

Not to offend anyone, but the bill excludes retired police officers. Why? As a retired military officer and combat vet, I probably have as much firearms experience as the usual retired LEO, I also may have heard and reacted to more shots fired in anger than the average retired LEO. I also qualified for and held national security clearances that far exceeded anything the average LEO has. So, why are retired military excluded? Are we less trustyworthy, less experienced in firearm safety and usage?

Does anyone know where to read the bill in its entirety? All I can find is her summary.

On Feinstein's website, the summary text includes

"The legislation excludes the following weapons from the bill:

Any weapon that is lawfully possessed at the date of the bill's enactment;

Any firearm manually operated by a bolt, pump, lever or slide action;

Assault weapons used by military, law enforcement, and retired law enforcement; and

Antique weapons."

Her summary does not mention "Government Official". I'm just wondering where it is mentioned in the summary. I'm more worried about what's in the actual bill vs her summary!

So, why are retired military excluded? Are we less trustyworthy, less experienced in firearm safety and usage?

Former/current military are viewed as heroes by normal thinking people. To the radical elitists running our government, you are most likely viewed as a threat to their plans of "change". As a group, the majority of retired military are probably pretty conservative, especially the former trigger pullers. That makes you high on the leftest list to be disarmed. Make no mistake about that. Its a sad state of affairs.

We all need to get involved and use everything we can muster to change Congress in 2014!!!

In a sense, they have exempted me, as I only have revolvers.
They will target me later when they extend the ban to all "repeating arms". "They" accomplish their agenda one step at a time, but it is a ratcheted step. "Click"! "They" seldom experience a "set back", once a step has been "locked in". "Click"! Next step. "Click"!
"They" can be very patient, when it is necessary.

Google murder rate before/after guns in the UK. The rate of murder by guns goes down dramtically as expected. BUT the overall murder rate stays the same - so they're gonna kill you regardless. Control of guns has no effect on the rate; only the method. This however does not advance their agenda so you never hear it.

If this is true, and I intend to post a link to the full text of her legislation once it becomes available on THOMAS, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised by the double standard considering that she saw fit to obtain a licence for a concealed handgun since, in her eyes, such a lofty responsibility can only be entrusted to those of her rank and station.

As an aside, I once saw a movie where only the armed forces and police were allowed to have "military style" weapons... It was called Schindler's List, if memory serves correctly.

We could not trust her in an outhouse with a muzzle own. She wants to make sure that all of her subjects can be kept in line.
Remember they want all of our guns . Don't let all the smoke they are blowing blind you this is round one if it is not a knock out punch throw-ed by us.
Never never give up and let them know that we will teach our children to teach their children to resist.

A few items of note from that link:

Eliminating the 10-year sunset that allowed the original federal ban to expire.

Prohibiting the sale or transfer of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices lawfully possessed on the date of enactment of the bill.
