What's a Gun-Friendly State to Move To?

There are a few you can check out... It's been a while since I was on the East coast but I think Fla, Ga, Tenn, Ky, Va, WV, are gun friendly. Then there is Texas, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

Oregon is a liberal state thanks to all the Kalifornians who moved there since the 70's and Washington east of the Cascades is too (and they control state politics up there). You can't own a machine gun in Washington among other things.

For good Pizza, you need NY water.

Guns? Horses? Sure sounds like Kentucky to me....

Read the other day, in the NYT, I think, that Kentucky runs more background checks for firearms per capita than any other state, by far. Yep. Here it is: The State With 3.41 Firearm Background Checks Per Person - NYTimes.com

Now that is gun friendly!

Arlo,

Since I starting detective-ing for the Commonwealth's Attorney Office,

The 3.41 is about right on for the avg. household...
(Edited to add; Those folks purchasing a firearm and using their current CCDW Lic. do not
need to have the FFL call in a NCIC check....That is taken care of through the KSP Licensing Division before issuance.
That could skew the numbers a bit as well...;) probably like a factor of X times two or three...:D)

Shotgun, .22 rifle, center-fire rifle and a handgun of some sort.

Purty quite in my District, it's mostly rural and crime free.

Everyone is armed and polite.

I'd got wrangled into instructing a few concealed carry classes....
Lots of women folk and teachers attending here lately.

Folks up here as well as in Texas are looking out for themselves.

Good places to live....Both of em.

Su Amigo,
Dave

I'd say Florida but having been here 33 years, the handwriting is on the wall. We are over run with "foreigners" and well on the way to "blue state madness." Still, I'm in running shorts with the slider open on a mid 70's evening, in January. Horse country about an hour north of me, beaches an hour either way. Nobody local after any guns yet except for the big city libs. I'm staying put for awhile.Joe

I posted earlier about Eastern WA and was telling the wife. She informed me that she has been spending a great deal of time looking at Texas...gave me this link to check out. Thought you might like to look at it, since there have been a few who have suggested Texas already.

Michael Stern..... I've seen that name posting at some point in the distant past. Used to be a guy with spectacular guns with that name. I'm impressed!

As others have said, you can consider Kentucky. We actually have horses around here. We've even got a state owned Horse Park, just north of Lexington. I almost wreck every time I drive past on the interstate. Miles of white fence. Nice rolling hills.

We mostly don't have gun laws. The state legislature preempted all the other bodies in the state. They don't pass much relating to guns. A sure way not to get re-elected is to propose something. Except in the open sewer called Louisville. We even have 2 of the best US Senators. They can't really do much to buck the tide, but your blood pressure doesn't go up because they're stupid.

For an idea of good or bad gun laws, go to the Brady site and look how they rate the various states gun laws. We're at the bottom of what they want which means were at the top of what you want. Easy.

Don't forget Missouri. Open carry, CCW is a one day course. Four seasons, lots of coyotes. Moderate taxes. The cost of living seems less than a lot of places. You would be most welcome.

Ohio is gun friendly. we moved here from CT in 1988. But I am looking to move west myself. I have interviewed in Utah and NV. Both seem / are more gun friendly than here. But compared to CT, NY, MA we are way more friendly towards guns...still have open gun shows, class III and suppressors OK with permit and not that hard to get. Open carry allowed but not many do. CCW class is 2 days. FTF sales ok w/o FFL. And we are an 8 hour drive away. But if distance is no prob... go farther west yet.

Im thinking Virginia. Long as your driving is OK!!;) We are very gun friendly for the most part, I even have a nice range in my back yard, and never any complaints. No close neighbors for about 1/4 mile or so.

We have a Fox Hunting Club here as well, I believe it is called Glenn More Hunt Club I think, where they hunt on horses. I have seen them out in the open fields from time to time riding. I'm located in Augusta County. I hope you find what you're lookin for. Good luck.

Regards,
John

My occupation involves driving all the time, so I think I'm ok on that score! I have hunted in Virginia, and it's spectacularly beautiful. Good people there, too!

Georgians are usually friendly to all guns.
Yankees, not so much.
JUST KIDDING! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

'Mon down.
We'd love ta have ya.
'Bout as loose as it gits here.

Lee. the only problem I'd have with Georgia is weight control. I cannot say no to ham, biscuits, barbecue, and fried chicken!

Come on to Oklahoma. Gun laws are very good and the people are friendly. Also the economy is good considering what the nation is going through. Lots of horses and open area.

Actually, I am on my way to Oklahoma tomorrow (not permanently, at least not this time), on a hamburger eating expedition. No state has better burgers.

Alaska?

Through watching TV documentaries screened in UK it's often been said that Alaska is the most "lawless" state in America. I think they mean the lack of laws not the breaking of them.

It seems there is little control over firearms carried or concealed and that every type of heavy weapon is in. Is that so?

I've always fancied a wheelchair mounted mini-gun.

Horses in Kentucky? Who'd a thunk it?? Hi, Dick. I do love your senators. I can't even think too much about our Connecticut senators, lest I have a stroke.

Nort-Eastern WA is good. Lots of space, few peoples. Too bad no full auto. You might need it during the hunting season to protect your cows and goats:D. If you plan on buying property, get your own surveyor - folks down there don't really pay attention to the borderlines. And be careful, the acres you see might not be the acres you want to buy (my friend's experience).
I live West of Cascades. Plan to retire soon. I will move to the first state which will refuse to enforce the Lautenberg Amendment, at least it's retroactive implementation. Some old Greek noted that every nation deserves it's government. I'd like to spend the rest of my life with people who elect smart and honest representatives able to live up to their oath.

Interesting...not much mention of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming where gun enthusiasts are pretty much every household.

I am a Montana born and raised and we don't mind folks moving here if they will leave the things they are moving away from in the state that they are leaving.

Hope that made sense.....

Randy

How about staying where you are and fighting for your rights? I do not know you personally, but I am about tired of northeast liberals moving to Tennessee and shortly after trying to change Tennessee into what they've left. I'm sure this post isn't pleasing to you, but that is how a lot of of down here truly feel.

Mike, Florida, specifically the Ocala area is tailor made for you. Horse country all around, good gun shows within easy driving distance & the highest number of concealed carry licenses in the country.
Lots of SWCA members as well.
Plus all the road food anyone could want.

Go to a swing state. Your vote will actually count. Florida is VERY gun friendly.
