To Re-Load or Not???

I hold my press on my workmate with plywood top with 3 bolts and wingnuts
works great but a lot of pressure will cause the table to try to turn but I dont need a lot of pressure to load, just to crush cases LOL :D

I know we talked about this but I don't own a workmate and I'd like that cash for a scope! Lol

Zip I would have loved to have used an end table but we didnt have room..LOL...Like Bill said you will need to clamp the plywood down, I used screws but the table folds up out of the way. That top looks great though :D

Thank you sir. Since the end table has no other use I think I'll drill right thru that sucker....countersink the heads of the bolts as Bill suggested and just use 4 long bolts with wing nuts for quick removal.

Here's the beauty of my set up. I often work from home. During lunch and breaks I can literally swing my chair around and start loading! Question?? No problem! Swing it back around and type it up on the forum! Za zing!!! lol

way to cold to go shooting so I am hand loading rounds right now I am using 27.8 grains of CFE223 (avg velocity of 2924 fps) with a COL of 2.250 and sealing the primers and projectiles with $0.93 fingernail polish. I can get about 1000 rounds per bottle lol.
How is your hand loading going so far Zip?

I found 1 pound jar of CFE223 at Cabela's today. I saw one bottle on the shelf. My hand moved faster than lightning to grab that bottle. It was like finding a unicorn.

The I found another unicorn. There was a S&W M&P 15-22 on the rack.

Then at Wal-Mart I found yet another unicorn. 100rd value packs of Fed 9mm $22. They had some Federal .223 20rd boxes. They have a 3 box purchase limit. I'm headed back in a couple hours when their shift changes. I hope the .223 is still there.

It's been a good day.

Just like John, I found unicorns also. First I was in a little hole in the wall gunsmith shop and picked up his last three boxes of .223, it was reman but a brand I have shot before. 50 round boxes FMJ $16 each.
Plus while I was in the emergency room waiting to be stitched up. My phone went off. It was my LGS in Wichita. He has my 8lbs of CFE223 at a cheaper price than he quoted me before. I pick it and some #41 primers up on the 4th...Yee Haaa!! :D

I have been reloading since 1970 still using single stage shoot 100 - 150 rounds most weekends with grandson Reloading is a hobby for me and I get immense satisfaction out of making my own ammo. Cost reduction is a side benefit once you get started it is an addiction i load for 7 rifle calibers and 8 handguns mainly 222 rem (yes still out there) .38 ,45 acp. 357 and 44
you will find reloading is something ou will get more out of then cost benifit ratio. Start with the best equipment you can afford never cheapen up on dies or scales
my 2 cents worth hope you join the rest of us reloaders

Man, its getting BAD!!! All the 308 and 30-06 is g-g-g-gone and 223 is going for silly prices.

I am hosting a small/select "reloading party" on the superbowl and my pals are coming over to get their brass prepped and readied. I have 2 different single stage presses that we will have out in the play are. One is for sizing/depriming, the other for swaging the crimps out, and the 3rd band to our merry trio will be trimming with the RCBS case prep station. Also a Possum Hollow trimmer so we can "catch up".

We have 1500+ pieces of brass we are working through... When we are done, we split it up and each of us finishes the reloading.

Looking at my stockpile of primers, I feel I have "enough". ;)

But those starting out are going to be having an uphill battle for several months.

I might have done something with the one local buddy of mine who shoots, but not with the 49ers in the Super Bowl this year! :)

HEY NOW!!!!!! Dont bash My Niners:D

I myself did a wally world Run Thursday... all the unicorns where fictitious and None existent... May pop into Cabel's today to return a holster and see if any Goblins or anything show up... And check on a RCBS Swagging unit...

Time for me to get some Brass loaded... have about 400 prepped and de-primed and another 400ish cleaned and ready to de-prime and at least 400 that need cleaning...

Got some rain now thur Monday so Hopefully the washes are able to be traveled on Tuesday... May get my 94 1 ton 4dr Powerstroke back today, and if so, no need to worry about Roads... ill make my own....LOL

have a good weekend all

Back from Circular drive to LGS and Wally World, and cabela's...

cabela's was a ZOO... walked in, no .223, walked out..

1 Wally had American eagle .223 in stock, like 10 boxes left, max 3 per person, got 3, checker was going home for day, walked out to my car and dropped those 3 off, went back in and got 3 more...LOL

Talked to LGS guys... he says S&W is running like Mad... Biggest challenge with AR for .223 is barrels. I believe he said DPMS got a GOV contract and all the barrels are going to them so S&W is still waiting to get barrels in stock... thinks the 15-22 will be available soon though...

They had lots of 1lb powder, all Pistol rounds, no .223 but had some 2hrs before i arrived... figures...no brass and some sierra Lead...

So he said things are improving for sure...... So be patient guys things are getting better....

Time ta hit the bench and Bust out some .223 Rounds

.......

:confused:Stavman, Thompson makes the Sport barrels which are starting to be on some of Smiths other rifles. Are you talking about the Chrome lined barrels. My T/C .308 has a 5R barrel. DPMS doesnt have 5R barrels on their rifles. So part of this I dont understand because according to the info put out by Smith their barrels are made in house by T/C ?

I talked to the guy for like an hour... So i am SURE I lost some of the Info in translation...

But he did say that due to someone who has a gov Contract that it has delayed production due to shortage of barrels.... That was from his Remmington Rep I believe, maybe S&W is shipping their barrels off... who knows:D.. he gave me the entire speal of how S&W got started building AR, how the M&P line are done... lots of Great info... had me very interested...... LGS can really be a WEALTH of info... OH and i didnt see anything that had an Inflated $$$... so i will for sure be back... Hopefully when they get AR15-22 and Sports in stock:D

So who knows whats true, or not... But it is true products are being more readily available... just based on them haveing so much powder and more on the way... its very incouraging to say the least

Now all of the sudden I NEED another AR

LOL

Kinda what my Drive today was about....:)... also picked up some .357rds as well..
Hornady critical defense 125gr FTX and some COR BON 125gr JHP ta see how they go BOOM :p

Actualy a good day of Running around

OH I am sure that people that make parts for other people right now are swamped. I read that the Government is the muslim brotherhood (Egyptian government) F-16's and Abrams tanks and would bet they are giving them AR's also which is just wrong wrong wrong!!!

Here's the results of my latest reloading effort, the ladder test loads for my new Mossberg MVP bolt action 5.56...color coded for easier identification should I dump the box at the range, haha. LC brass, with Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT bullets over WC844 powder charges of 23 – 27.5gr.

Nice Bill

whats yer COL on those Rounds....

messing with a few changes today.... last range Run I had some Nosler 50gr varmint Spitzers that i had terrible results with... only thing i can think is crimp was to tight and accuracy was comprimised..

So with my Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT I was lengthening my COL to see if that changes the Accuracy any.. they are pretty good with my standard load and COL now but just wondering how it may effect things

Love the paint Job Bill

:D

Bill I WANT that mossberg! Very nice rifle!

...and the picture of your most recent stuffed shells looks like artwork!

I'm seating the bullets to the middle of the cannelure, which ends up being about 2.225–2.227. When I experimented with different COLs in the Sport I didn't have any appreciable difference in accuracy. Depending on how things go with the new rifle I may try it again.
