To Re-Load or Not???

I'm seating the bullets to the middle of the cannelure, which ends up being about 2.225–2.227. When I experimented with different COLs in the Sport I didn't have any appreciable difference in accuracy. Depending on how things go with the new rifle I may try it again.

thats my Normal Spot ish... about 2.234

Trying 10 Longer... almost Full cannelure exposed... trying 4 different COL... 2.20 2.234 2.245 2.256

See if they make a difference

More Fun for Tuesday

:D

will do

was really surprised at the Nossler accuracy drop last time i loaded them.... so wann try on the Hornady 1st..

Those Dang Nossler varmets are such a LONG Bullet.... hard ta keep em within the COL Specs.. Have some 50gr at 2.273 2.280 and some 40gr at 2.254... all shot great but my recent 50gr at 2.253-2.259 where all over the place....

So we shall See

Stav..I shoot the 55gr Varmageddons and they load real consistently at 2.250 +/-.003 depending on brass. I have some Nosler Ballistic Tip 30cal 125gr and they are longer than the other brands I have but they shoot so well. I havent tried the Noslers in the weights you are talking about. I get such good results out of the 55gr that I am backing away from experimenting for now.
I have some 75gr Amax and 68gr BTHP Match that I am sending to BHarada so he can play with them in his bolt action. I had a hard time getting them to shoot as accurately as I know that they can.

TIP OF THE DAY!!:
I wash my brass in one of those laundry bags for delicates after I decap/resize, mostly to remove all the oil. I discoverd if you will spray them with OxyClean laundry pretreatment, they will come out as shiney as if you just tumbled them!! I wash them in with a load of Jeans or Bath towels. No problems at all. Today I have both of my boresnakes in with them also. :D

No dents or dings ??? You use a blow dryer to dry them ?? Insides nice and clean too?

No dents or dings, I forgot you have to add bleach also, and let the pretreat soak for a bit. I put them on the tray that fits in the dryer and then turn the dryer on very hot for about 20 minutes. The last bunch didnt turn out as well but I didnt add bleach.

So my Dad is making a run to my LGS while he is in Wichita. He has my stuff all set aside.
8lbs CFE223
2k CCI#41 Primers (my LGS guy is a competitive pistol shooter and wont stock russian primers but he got in #41's for me)
1k Large Pistol
2 flats of small pistol. I just received a gift of a 9mm Lee Loader so I am not going to be loading a ton of 9mm until I get some real dies. LOL
I really like my LGS :D:D:D:D

You talking about the brass or Grover's head after his wife finds out what's he's been washing in with the bath towels. Haha

she doesnt do the laundry so what she doesnt know wont hurt her, it might be dings and dents if she finds out. LOL

You guys KILL me......LOL

Stav

So my Dad picked up the stuff, somehow there was a miscommunication and I ended up with 2k large pistol primers and 1k small pistol primers also. The guy I deal with wasnt in and the lady behind the council got confused. I called and will be returning them Monday cause I couldnt afford them. LOL
so for those of you who buy 8lbs of powder, do you keep a 1lb jug to transfer to and work out of?

I also work out of the 8 lb containers I am almost finished with my first one but I have two more sitting there :)

I was so unfortunate to not get an eight pounder. Forced to get 8 - 1 pounders. :(

Shall I begin my reloading adventures by getting hopelessly stuck in a constant game of shell and pea powder freshness? :p :D

How many different types of powder do you have? Open what you need to and leave the rest sealed.

But in general even opened canisters of powder will keep for years so long as you keep the containers closed and store them in a cool, dry place.

seeing how large the 1lb jugs are, I expected the 8lb to be pretty large. I didnt expect it to be as small as it is. Then I thought about the fact that the 1lb jugs are only about 60% full.
I have to admit, I did lay back and admire the jug of powder and the boxes of #41 primers last night.
We went to the doctor yesterday and my wound is infected so I have to stay off of my leg, We have some depredation permits for deer out at the farm starting the 1st and I really want to go take one more before they sell the farm and this is getting in my way.

I hope your leg gets better soon Grover, I just finished reloading 933 rounds and sealing them so all total I have a total of 1405-- 5.56 rounds ready to go. I also have 33 cases that have split necks or are to short for the 5.56 so tomorrow I am going to convert them to .300 blackout even tho I have no powder or projectiles for them lol.

I was kidding with the post Bill - only one type. I was just in a goofy mood last night. lol

Grover keep that cut clean and heal up man!

I went to my friend Jim's tonight. He's fixing my 410 shotty for me. Real nice guy and very knowledgable. Next thing you know we were talking reloading and he was demoing the process for me. Also let me borrow a RGBS reloading DVD. More learning to do!!

Keep that wound clean, and I hope you heal up fast Grover.

I did an ammo count. I only have a few complete reloads on hand, but I do have primers, projectiles, and powder on hand. I have about 1K factory rounds on hand. I built up that stash over time, when ammo was plentiful and relatively affordable.

The only thing I'm lacking is small pistol primers for my 40 S&W. I have some on back order at Sinclairs, along with another 4lbs of Unique, but who knows when their supply will be replenished.

Powder Valley has stopped taking back orders altogether.
