Hey Denver and surrounding area peeps. I called this place today 15 minutes before closing and they had two (2) 9mm Shields available. They open at noon Sunday, February 3rd so if you want one be there early. They sold 4 of their 6 today!!! Problem is, you're going to pay a PREMIUM if you want one. How bad do you want a Shield!?!?!?

They also have a M&P 45 4 1/2 threaded barrel, again, for a PREMIUM price.....

I'd go get em myself but my budget isn't prepared for what they're asking......

What is your definition of premium???

I saw online sales anywhere between $450 to $820 for a 9mm Shield...

Crazy!

$600+ for either the Shield or the 45.......

Gee, at that price, buy a Walther PPS, and have enough left over for a proper holster, or a couple of hundred rounds of premium ball ammo. ;)

Yeah, gouging is rampant everywhere. I saw an ad yesterday for a USED shield for $675.00. When Buds had them on the LE side of the shop, they were $335.00. Thanks for the headsup, but I'd advise waiting until things get a little less crazy.

Yeah, I called "Machine Gun Tours" Saturday and they had one available... For only $567... No Thank You. Every time I walk in there they are price gouging every single thing they sell. A bone stock M&P 15 is $3000 at that place. When a customer asked why they are so expensive, a sales clerk said it was because the manufacturers aren't making them anymore. That guy lied through his teeth to justify a 300% (or more) markup from MSRP. I walked out of there immediately after he said that.

I went to Gunsmoke in Wheat Ridge. You can order a shield through them for the MSRP OF $449 +Tax! A great deal! Can't wait to get mine. The wait list isn't even that large

I found this price gauging ridiculous and unethical at least...

I know, some may jump in and say "hey it is free market"... But this is not the case in my opinion.

A product MSRP announced as $449 is out there sold by the so called authorized gun dealers at $500, $550, $600 or even more...

I don't think this guns are purchased by the anti-gun crowds.

What happened to the gun community "sticking together"?
As soon as opportunity arises it looks like the sellers doesn't mind to stick it to the "gun community"...

That's my 2 cents...

Don't even get me started on their ammo prices... $48 for a brick of Golden Bullets? The same bullets I bought on sale for $18 a Brick 4 months ago... Even though they are the closest shop to my house I will never go there again.

Shop near me had a 50 round box of American Eagle .38 wadcutters for "only" $43! They were also selling a USED Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in .40 with 4 Glock mags for "only" $2700! I will never buy another thing from them again.

I hope everyone remembers who the "rip-off gun gougers" are when we get back to "normal" They will be dusting off old overpriced inventory for a looooong time. I can handle item limits, but NOT price gouging as bad as it has gotten. And as for the all-out liars saying "because they are no longer made",they can go get in line at the un-employment office.

As for "most" of the Mom&Pop LGS around here, they are still reasonably priced for in-stock items, have limits on ammo sales and only partly jack prices up on internet sales. Only problem is (as with most places) it's slow getting stock in. Not a problem.

The greater % of the people around this area have been way ahead of this game and already have most of the items already bought way before this all started.

I am not a fan of the rip of price gougers. But with that being said, I also understand where they are coming from. It the free market working here. If I'm a small shop (which I am not) and I have a Shield that could sit on my shelf for 2 minutes and I make $75 on it, or I mark up the price and someone will buy it for $175 profit within a day. Why would I get criticized for holding out for a higher price? It's not like I'm selling water here in a disaster area and I'm selling something that people need to survive. And I'm not being dishonest and taking a mag out of the package before I sell it to someone.

How much do you want a Shield? Enough to pay the premium? If not, sit back and wait. Or buy a different pistol. I understand that people are upset that the firearm they had their eye on is going for an outrageous amount, way more than they are willing to pay. But if I own a shop, why should I sell to one guy when the next guy in line is willing to pay alot more for it? If I price it too high, no one will buy it and I won't make a dime.

With that being said, it's also the way our system works, if you don't like how a shop runs their business, you have the option to take your money elsewhere. I just don't see it as taking advantage of people since a Shield isn't a necessity. I see it as pricing according to supply and demand. And I'm probably going to get flamed for this. Anyone out there argee with me? I know I'm in the minority on this.

There is free market, and there is unethical. Jacking up your prices is free market. Jacking up your prices and lying about the reason for the increase deserves an explanation.

Like it was said before, remember those shops who treated customers well and remember the ones who took advantage. It is also a part of free market society to send the liars and cheats out of business by taking business to the honest business owners.

Agreed and well said!

I wanted one bad enough to order mine last winter when I was able to actually see articals about them. I have had fantastic "luck" (?) with S&W's M&P line. I got one of the very first ones out from my LGS under MSRP and a free box of ammo last April.

Stores pay $325 for them. GARY

Depending on the model we actually pay a little bit more for them as they cost the same from all the mainline distributors. But WE don't charge a premium when we can get them. We currently have a list of 4 for the Shield 9mm but a CO distributor I speak with is quoting 6 months if you want one from him. We see 2-3 per month.

That's about what we're seeing here too at the LGS,2-3 a month. And they still DON'T charge a premium. Most are alredy spoken for. Mine is well broken in just for letting people try it out first. I don't mind and I end up with part of a box of 50 for letting them try it. :D win win.
