Back in December around Christmas time, I back-ordered 9x Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 25rd magazines from Cabelas. Originally I was told the wait was expected to be 4-6 weeks for the S&W 25rd magazines to come back in stock.

Tonight I recieved an email from Cabelas telling me the new expected arrival of these mags from S&W is about 1 year from now.

Ruined my week/month

When I go to the Cabelas website I cannot locate the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 25rd magazines. Does anyone have the item number or know if they removed them from their website?

With that post, you've just raised the price of 15-22 magazines in the secondary market by 50%. :D

Or maybe some people will just sell their M&P 15-22 all together.

Seems like S&W is still shipping 10rd long magazines...which are exactly the same as the 25rd parts wise.

The 10rds are IN STOCK, and the 25rds are backordered for one year?

Doesn't seem to make any sense.

Cabelas removed them from their website. They did that sometime around January 2013.

All of the evidence I keep digging up suggests that S&W isn't even producing these magazines anymore.

I'd love to get proved wrong.

Of course, it's unlikely that their reps would admit to the truth. Way too much PR at stake

I check S&W's website every day and haven't seen ANY 15-22 mags in stock since I ordered mine first part of January. Did I miss a 10 second window when they had them?

I read somewhere that people were finding the 10rd long mags in stock on the S&W website. Perhaps I was mis-informed.

The last time people here actually recieved a shipment of the S&W mags was like what...2 or 3 months ago? From back when Botach and Cabelas were still accepting back orders.

Woke up to the same Cabelas backorder update this AM. I also have two that have been on backorder at Midway. I hope I have better luck with that order.

I got the same email from Cabelas for the 3 pack of mags, should be here December 30th. But I also got another email for some single mags that I ordered from Cabelas, they are supposed to be here March 25th, we'll see... I got both of these emails last week.

S&W has not had any mags in a while, even 10 rounders. It is the same with all the posts that Cabelas has ammo. Simply not so.

Thats depressing. I backordered some from Brownells along with some PMAGs and we all know how thats going. From the reports of S&W not producing any 25 rounders heres what I've gathered; they aren't producing them because they are worried about impending legislation right but if the legislation isn't here yet why not produce? Also since the 10 round long mags are essentially the same where are they at? Haven't seen any of them either. I've also heard different stories that S&W doesn't even produce the mags, a 3rd party does so if thats the case then whats really the hold up?

I still remember staring at a huge bin filled with 25's for $18 at my lgs in Dec. I thought, I really just need a couple, I'll buy more later.

Ive "heard" They had put the 25 rnders on hold in fear of being stuck with a huge amount of surplus that would come with a hi cap ban... I cant confirm anything but supposedly that came from an S&W rep...

The main reason I don't buy this is that you don't see any 10 long or shorts either. Something else is going on.

Wow that sucks!!

And my friends thought I was crazy....

As when I purchase a weapon either a handgun or a long gun "at" the time of purchase I buy enough mags to equal 10, cleaning stuff for it, ammo, range case and up to 2000 rounds (depends on what caliber)

I have a friend who works at Cabela’s (for real) who called me when their ammo & mag shipment came in....

They got "1" mag for a S&W 1911, 5000 rounds of 9mm and 5000 rounds of .45ACP and no .22 ammo or .223/5.56

All gone in 2 hours......crazy times indeed!

I have no idea whats going on either but I did learn from the 08 ammo panic and have been buying 2 boxs of ammo shooting 1 box of ammo since 08

I ordered a 3 pack from Cabellas on 1/8 and received an email that they werent coming in on 2/20 like orignally expected, but I can contine to wait or cancel my order....nothing about 1 year.

Extremely disappointed with S & W and their response to this magazine shortage. I have had magazines, both 10 and 25 rounds on order since 12/28/12. Call and get message. Finally get some one on phone and they have no clue. I am regretting purchasing my gun now. If it is going to be 6 months, then say it. No information makes me one irrate customer. By the way the proposed gun law talk should have no effect on the 10 round mags.

This is what my last backorder notice said rec'd 2/6/13, these were ordered 01/09/13 I would hazard a guess that no one can produce anything official with a one year backorder date. I'm sure S&W recalls the last time the company bowed to political pressure so I suspect it is a problem with the supplier like they are making millions of PMAGS and they will get to S&W when they have time. If it were truly a "we don't want to get caught with 25 rounders that can't be sold" wouldn't it make sense that short 10s would be all over the place?
