40 years ago this March I took an oath to uphold the Constitution when I joined the Navy. I fought in a war that I did not agree with but felt that it was my duty to go. If it was today I don't know if I would go. I look at where our country is going and it makes me sick. Our country is run by self-serving politicians who have the lame-stream media in their pocket.
If the so-called assault weapons ban goes thru, then we are in serious trouble, can you spell Nazi Germany? How many times just in the 20th century has gun confication been followed by extermination?
We can take back this Country but it will take all of you and it will take everyone you know. Send every Senator and Congressman in your district a letter on how you feel about our Constituion and how you are going to vote. If there is one thing they are afraid of it is losing their job.
I took the oath 40 years ago and I believe I can still do my duty!
God help us all!!

I am still looking for the black helicopters and jack booted gun conficating thugs that so many seem to be seeing out there--maybe I'm smoking the wrong dope??? No right is an absolute right-----

You are smoking the wrong dope. People see confiscation in the future, and refer to the examples of the past. You are looking at the present.

that little piece of paper called the constitution, and the recent supreme court decision, does give you the absolute right to own a handgun, rifle, sporting rifle, (not bazooka,tank,etc)...if you want to give up your rights and forgo the helicoptors, they have gun buybacks all the time..or move to new york......as for me,i'll side with that little piece of paper!

The constitution is just a piece of paper that politicians and courts now ignore. The use it when it suits their agenda and twist the plain meaning of its contents when it does not. They do not use it as written. We are at the mercy of the political class and the present majority of nanny state citizens (and non citizens). I do not think the constitution will protect our rights since they ignore the literal meaning of its words. A rule book only matters if people follow the rules. I fear for my children.

I hope you can remember this comment and your mindset, should events get that far and this scenario plays out. Complacency is exactly what will allow it all to unfold...
The wording of our Constitution and intent of our founders when they created this once great country was pretty clear. "God given, inalienable rights" are not rights that are up for discussion by any government or man.

I am not really all that comfortable with the analogies to Hitler and Stalin and such either, but on the other hand, bills have been introduced in at least one state (and I think more) that would provide for a waiver of the fourth amendment by virtue of owning a black rifle and consent to periodic unannounced searches by law enforcement.

Coupled with the indications that many of our elected representatives think of themselves as "leaders" instead of representatives and the comments from congress and the white house that these are "first steps" and that the second amendment doesn't mean what we think it does, and that there are ways to get around it, etc., that alone is enough to worry even moderates like me.

It is sad how I, a soldier, was carrying firearms no civilian will ever hold in his hands in foreign countries but back in my home country the same politicians who send me to war don't even trust me to carry pepper spray without a CWP...

We have an ex-Marine in our State that served in Vietnam such as a lot of us. When he was 17 he was arressted for a misdemeanor charge of getting into a fistfight. He did his time in the service and now 40 years later after buying numerous guns and living in the mountains to make a living, he went to buy another gun and was denied on the federal background check. He was told that because of the misdemeanor charge that he could NOT buy another gun.
Everyone knows that only a felony should count against you but now he has to hire an attorney and spend thousands of dollars to get back his unalienable right.
This is just the beginning. For those of you who think that I and others are "paronoid", wait until it happens to you or someone you know. They are now trying to get into your private medical records and if you have been subcribed anything for depression, sleep disorder or are taking any pain medicine you too could loose your "RIGHTS'.
WAKE UP PEOPLE.

We the people are the enforces of the Constitution. It is "We the people that fight the wars for our government" and it is we the people that will enforce the second amendment. No politicions or Judges will come for your guns....the police are not going to fight the people to lose their own rights and neither will our soldiers. At any rate ...any one that comes to take my guns will face a determined enforcer of the second amendment and it will be cost lives to get my guns. How long to you suppose any group will last under those conditions...the attrition will thin them fast and the ground swell will swallow them.

Rosa Parks didn't need that seat ----she had a right to that seat on the bus. They just unveiled a statue of her 2 days ago. I may "not need that gun " but I have a right to it. Where is my statue?
